***US Soccer***

This is some 5-D chess by CONCACAF.

They scheduled this on the same week as the NCAA basketball tournament knowing that the American players would be more worried about how their brackets were doing than playing soccer.

Team lacks toughness… no Gooch or Dempsey… closest thing is McKennie but he’s not even that tough. We have a weak back line, nearly average keeper and no real scoring threat. This team just isn’t good. Might have more talented or skilled players than in the past, but those teams in the past played with a chip and were tough as nails. Haven’t seen anything like that in years.

Well this is less than optimal.

This whole golden age sucks. They’re all weak tik tok kids. Give me heart and fire over finesse any day. They’re just soft. No other way to describe it. Build the roster with college graduates on mls teams. I miss being the scrappy team that would actually compete. So much entitlement now. Yes, that includes ****ing Pulisic.

I'd still keep Pulisic, Weah, A. Robinson and Adams (when healthy).
Gio hasn't been able to play for GGG or Poch and now being told to kick rocks by Dortmund.
I used to love Wes. Played with heart. Then sent home by GGG for breaking curfew in a tournament. Then sits for red cards. Finally starts to see a shred of success with Juve... but I've seen enough. I feel like he's a "fake dog" by getting mad when he gets embarrassed on the field.
Insert every player we have put at the #9... can't score.
Musah... still like the guy but seems to have lost confidence. Can't find a position.
Our best cb is my age and can't run guys down which is why he's in the MLS.
Dest is a so-so defender, great going forward, coming off a major injury.

I'm lost as to what to do next. The u-23s aren't bad so maybe it's time to put more of them in. Problem is we are running out of time.

The silver lining is that we're still in a better position overall than when we missed the '18 WC. All of the guys that form the core of the roster are mostly 25 and younger so it's not like they're heading in the wrong direction from the standpoint of their overall careers.

It's just weird overall - alot of these guys are doing well at their club teams but it appears like they're not clicking with each other.

I'm not personally too worked up by the Nations' League stuff in March aside from it just being more of what we've seen of late.

Gold Cup, when presumably our 1st choice roster will be together for a month with Poch will be interesting this summer - his first extended time with the main guys.

The Gold Cup will be the final audition for many of these guys. If they notice someone didn't fit in this camp, you have to cut bait and focus on the guys you want for the next 12 months.

If Gio isn't one of those guys I will not be shocked.

"The players are being investigated for using illegal platforms for online poker and betting on other sports. As such they do not risk a ban but instead a maximum fine of 250 euros ($284) from Italian authorities."

So it sounds to me from this article that the biggest risk is a 250 Euro fine.

He wasn't betting on soccer.

The U.S. is gonna embarrass themselves in front of the whole country when the World Cup rolls around aren't they..............

If their last 2 times in tournaments is anything to go by it doesn't look good.

All I can say is that I hope they right the ship during the Gold Cup. Because if we have another early exit and bad showing it's hard to see them turning it all around and looking good in a year.
