Video of Mizzou student protests at parade

Iowa needs to march in this Parade and recruit these fine citizens to an enlightened school that values all people. Steal their students. They are already dressed like Hawks.

Protesters, come to a school that believes in you.

If you want to stand in the town square and scream out your list of grievances, that is absolutely allowed and proper. But if you want to force people to remain in the town square and listen to you, then your rights have ended where everybody else's rights begin.

Having read with interest it seems clear to me that the answer was for the protestors to throw out candy while they protested.

Otherwise, a group of toddlers may have become violent.

See, you think I disagree with this, but I don't.

It is the idea that they are SCARING THE CRAP OUT OF KIDS that becomes the rationalization against it. That is what is chicken shit, that in 2015 a bunch of, presumably, college kids wearing similar clothing and discussing political issues are scary.

I seem to remember being at a 4th of July parade and this scary Indian looking guy came up to me wanting to talk politics, I guess my toddlers and I should have ran away?

How many times do we hear progressives use "think of the children" when making a point…..any point. How about the "think of the children" crap they spew when it comes to illegal immigration. That's all they have and now you're complaining about the abuse of young children at a parade by a bunch of entitled shit heads stopping a parade?

That video in the OP is 10 minutes long, which part is scary?

They start by turning on sirens on their megaphones (every parade, ever), and saying, "Hi there folks how are you doing ... we have something for you." "Power, Power!" "Thank you so much for your patience ... white supremacy".

Then a bunch of college kids take turns talking about the history of their university and ties to racism.

So which minute/second should I watch to prepare for the safety of my toddlers?

Jesus F Christ would you just call everyone who disagrees with this protest at a parade a racist and get it over with???

You can't be serious.
Of course I am. This is how it's supposed to work. To be against this on Veterans Day is a real slap in the face of what we fight for. This is patriotism writ large. It should fill your heart with pride to witness this public act of civic responsibility. America has a bright future if these kids are in charge. This is what freedom looks like.

You don't have a right to detain people and force them to listen to your speech. That is not an American principle at all. That is NOT what freedom looks like.

Don't be a drama queen. No young children were abused.

Beyond toddler there is also the preteen delinquents. In my small town pea shooters were carried by anyone aged eight to twelve. They were shot with deadly accuracy. Hold up our parade? There would have been trouble.

WEAK?

How about I kidnap you and hold you in my torture chamber and force you to listen to Rush Limbaugh 24 hours a day? You cool with that?
Weak because you think that is what happened in that video. 10 minutes of blocking a street with multiple exits is not a kidnapping that you think it is speaks bad of you. But not as bad as the fact that you think the government should have threatened their lives with dogs. You should feel ashamed of your position in this thread.

They don't need to see that crap. They came down to the parade to have a good time. Not watch a bunch of idiots try and prove a stupid point.
Freedom ain't free. I'm surprised I need to explain this to you on Veterans Day. Kids need to see how citizens control the power and affect change peacefully

You don't have the right to detain me and force me to listen to you for 10 seconds!

The dog thing was a joke, but I wouldn't have minded a few "school resource officers" removing them from the parade route.

This just in....a float of the shape of a cake appeared:

Moments later it split apart to reveal the "Death Mobile" and rammed into a float displaying a white and black hand about to grasp in loving respect. A pirate jumped out! Some fat guy threw marbles on the street. The band followed a dimwit into an alley. A woman was catapulted into the room of a young man. In short...all heck broke lose!!!

There's nothing peaceful about impeding someone's movement. Try to stop an employee from leaving an office and make her sit and listen to you, and you can prepare to write a big freaking check.

No one was detained. I have the right to get in your face. I have the right to shout. I have the right to protest. Why do you want to give up your freedoms?

You are smart to back away from the dogs. Keep backing up. You are on the wrong side of this issue.

Did you watch the video? It was peaceful.

Think about it....^^^^^....was all about drunken foolishness and it was way worse!

What the hell do you mean "no one was detained"? The car had to stop and listen to their bullshit. That is being detained.

You do have the right to shout. You do have the right to protest.

But you DON'T have the right to get in my face. You DON'T have the right to impede my movement.

You simply DO NOT have the right to force me to listen to you and impede my ability to continue on my way. THAT IS NOT WHAT FREEDOM LOOKS LIKE.

We disagree. These kids are awesome freedom fighters doing the hard work the right way. There was no force. Anyone could walk away at any time. You are being hysterical. Freedom demands people have a spine and your position is weak.

Walk away and leave your car there? Are you freaking insane?

No it was not. The ability of the car to continue on it's way was impeded. That is using force. That is detaining people. That is taking the liberties of others away via force.
It's sad that you feel this way. You trade freedom for convenience with out a thought. The police state likes you.

So, let me make sure you have your position straight....

If the KKK jumped out in front of Obama's limousine, Obama should be required to sit there while they recite their grievances?

Is that your argument?

If Baptists marched on Key West and began randomly jumping in front of cars with two males inside and blocked them while they recited their grievances against gay people, you would be okay with that?

Just good ol' fashioned freedom, right?

Your position is ridiculous and it's not representative of this case, but I wouldn't run the baptists over. Try to stay in point.

The Baptists should be arrested, as should these jackasses have been. That is the correct answer.

What is your definition of peaceful? Standing in a cornfield so that you don't bother anyone?

Also, I'm concerned by what at least one poster thinks "passive" means (or doesn't mean).

They could have stood on the sidewalk and yelled all the "history" that they wanted. That would have been fine. When they blocked movement, that's when they crossed the line.
