Vince also didn't have as much control over the industry back in the 80s. The territories were still prevalent in those time periods, but the WWF was beginning to blow up.
Wrestlers still had a lot of power in terms of booking, and to be honest, the lockerrooms were probably (not probably....definitely) even more out of control back then.
Vince would've been more of a turn a blind eye kind of an owner back then, and didn't start getting power-hungry and controlling until the dawn of the Attitude Era.

After reading some of the text messages. That’s enough for me to say that everyone close to Vince still in the company or was on the board who oversaw the investigation of the NDAs needs to go. That includes Paul Levisque , Bruce Pritchard, etc etc.
The text messages are enough to say a house cleaning at the top needs to happen. Watching Paul squirm at the press conference and introduce the Royal Rumble was too cringy for me. There are plenty of people who are smart to the business who can run the show. It’s a big ship and no one is irreplaceable.
