Vokolek to decide this week

At least we don't trash young college athletes when things don't go our way.

Get off your high horse. Plenty of Nebraska fans do that as we’ve seen on this site. As well as Iowa and every other schools fans if you read their message boards. You got to be pretty ignorant if you think your fan base is immune from it.

Vokolek looks like a pretty good TE to me. Time will tell if he develops into a All-B10 type TE.
You can't reasonable make definitive judgments based on his one season at Rutgers but the potential is certainly there IMO.

It made sense that Iowa offered him a scholarship - Vokolek is a decent B10 receiver and Iowa graduates 2 senior TEs after this season. Vokolek would be a strong contender for a starting position at Iowa in 2020.

Nebraska makes little sense to me. I believe Husker fans will concede that Frost's offense does not feature TEs as receivers; there is no dispute that Iowa's offense does. Moreover, if I'm not mistaken, it appears that absent attrition Nebraska will have 6 scholarship TEs on roster when Vokolek becomes eligible in 2020. Something will have to give with that unit.... I suspect one or more players will move to another unit.

Iowa bringing up the last 4 years= broken record
1. Last 4 years have been factual.....wins. I know you guys would like those years stricken from the books or asterisks by them but the wins still count.

2. Just cause Mike Riley is gone and howdydoody on roids is back doesnt mean shit will change....just thinking it is fact is delusional in itself..

Frosty wanted to coach at Florida...his first choice...but you got him and hes 0-1.

3-2-1....cue the 'but it was one of our worst teams ever and it took a last second FG to beat us'....

I don't get it. My only thought is, it sounds like he played some LB in highschool. Neb is in need at the LB position. With his size and the fact he has to sit a year. Wondering if Frost and Co will take that year to transition him into a LB . Using him as a TE makes no sense.

Do you just say things that come into your head? No logic, not facts, no common sense?
Nobody is pretending the last 4 years didn't happen. They did and they were horrible. As you pointed out, "the worst in Neb history" The fact that Iowa likes to keep ignoring is how do you explain your 1-3 vs Bo Pelini teams? The guy was a nut job, average coach and you still had a losing record vs him. I guarantee you, Frost is a better overall coach and recruiter than BO. So if you can't even beat Bo how in the world do you think you are going to be able to beat Frost long term?
PS Frost turned down FL this is pretty widely known fact. Except apparently in Iowa where the internet is hit or miss. I believe Frost was even quoted after taking the job saying he had no intention of taking any other jobs. It was either UCF or Nebraska.

Kirk does a good job of running the program of Iowa, but he has been there for 20 years and accomplished what? Do you really not think Frost over the next 20 years will not have a much better resume'?? Kirk started off 1-10 and then went 3-9 his second season. He has won 1 NY bowl game in 20 f'in years with ZERO outright conference titles. (.500 bowl game record). Getting all excited over year 1 with a full rebuild is laughable.

Frost has accomplished jack shit in the big leagues. Go piss into the wind.

3 NY6 bowl games
5 top 9 finishes
2 Big Ten titles and 1 West division title -
Each accomplished with 8-0 records in the Big Ten
12-0 in 2015
And of course since you have an inflated view of Nebraska...we’ve beaten you 5 out of the last 6 including 4 straight with scores like 56-14, 40-10, and 38-17

He’s accomplished as much as Nebraska has in the last 20. As for outright or shared it doesn’t matter they count the same. I know it’s a subtle dig your fans love to obsess about but your own school still counts your big 8 shared titles and hasn’t won one this century. As for frost no guarantee how well he will do or live up to lofty expectations of fanbase, let alone the fact that no guarantee he will still be at Nebraska in 20 years. Do I think he’s a good coach, yes. Do I think he’s going to dominate the conference like fans of his school think I’d pump the brakes and big claims until he starts producing stuff first. Cause been 8 years and same talk of frost dominating conference is what Iowa fans heard ad nauseam when they joined the conference.

I also remember a man in khakis coming back to his alma mater few years ago and suppose to win a bunch of big games, conference titles and compete for national title and hasn’t even won a division title yet. So for husker fans coming to an Iowa site thinking they are going to drink their frost kool aid thinking he’s next big thing, sorry you’re at the wrong place looking for that validation.

You obviously dont realize what a NY6 bowl was....he won 1, the orange bowl vs G Tech. If we went the old B10 rules of no CCG then Nebraska would have won by default in 2012 - shared titles LOL. Iowa will never be great and that's what their fans hate the most.

Frost will win a real B10 conference title by the time Martinez leaves campus. Iowa will be a fart in the wind by that time to us once again.

You are 1-2 in NY6 bowls with a 38-17 & 45-16 loss. You clearly didn't belong there.
You are right you do have 5 years finishing in top 10. You also have 13 years you didn't finished ranked at all.
Come on we all know split titles aren't the same. Yes even Nebs splits. When you crown 2 conf champions you are basically doubling your odds to get one. Not the same as getting outright and having to play an extra game. Even so you last was 2004.
I admit Iowa has had a slight edge these last 20 years. When looking at everything W-L, bowl games, reg season rankings, end of year rankings, wins over ranked opponents, conf record ect. It is all very very similar between the 2 programs. For Iowa to think they are some vastly superior team these last 2 decades is not only laughable it is border line delusional.

To be frank, I never understood the recruitment of Vololek. We have a small recruiting class for 2020 due to limited scholarships. Unless we are uncomfortable with the upper classmen TE's we have on the roster. We have Beyers, Cook, Weiting, and Kujawa. We also have Miamen and LaPorta in the freshman class. We have one very good TE recruit in the 2020 class and possible second good one to come in also. It never really made any sense. I not sure what his commitment would have done for us other than add a little more depth.

Thanks Doc Brown for all that insight into the future..... You have any stock tips while you are at? Thank you again for proving why Iowa fans loath most Husker posting here with the ignorance and hubris they tend to display. Especially for a team coming off back to back 4-8 seasons and has lost to that school where you are trolling on their message board and talking trash to 4 years in a row.

Also under the old rules of no conference title game before divisions and if that was still in place you do realize Ohio St was undefeated and would have won the championship in 2012 and was only ineligible for post season. So they'd would have only missed the bowl game but won the conference title. So no you wouldn't have had a share title, lol, but no nice try there buddy.....

All I hear in this statement is Blah blah blah wah wah wah

Come back to us after you get to a bowl game. Lately you’ve struggled to even do that let alone whatever statement of superiority this is

Get off your high horse. Plenty of Nebraska fans do that as we’ve seen on this site. As well as Iowa and every other schools fans if you read their message boards. You got to be pretty ignorant if you think your fan base is immune from it.
And the pain rolls on.

What is hilarious about Nebraska fans online is they just can’t even fathom how much they stand out as rubes compared to the normal college football fan. Everybody who studies college football knows that Nebraska won all of its stuff in an era that no longer exists. They won it all in a conference (Big 6-8) that was for most of its history, filled with bottom feeder teams and Oklahoma. They won their nattys in an era where they were voted on and the best teams didn’t play each other. Once they moved up to the Big 12, their record started to slip. And now in the Big Ten/CFP era, which is the only history that matters now, they are a bottom feeder.

They don’t understand that Nebraska is just another team in this conference. That they’re just another team in the West division! Even lowly Northwestern has a beautiful lakefront practice facility, a coaching staff being paid in the top 1/3 of power 5, and a 9 billion dollar endowment. Illinois has a $110 million plus budget. The days of playing disinterested commuter schools are over Nebraska. Get a grip

You need to work on your reading comp skills. There was no claim of superiority. Simply proof that Iowa is just as average as Nebraska has been the last 20 years. Nothing less, nothing more.
Of the last 20 years Iowa didn't go bowling 5 years. Nebraska 5 years as well. We have missed the last 2 years of bowling. When Iowa gets to close to 35 straight bowl appearances then we can have a talk about bowl games and who has a hard time making them.<------- That was a claim of superiority.

Frost wanted FL. They said your staff isnt a D1 staff you cant bring them...so they said bye bye..

My whole post up top is fact..

Blah, blah, blah...your post is all conjecture. We’ll see how it plays out but MY thought is ‘at best’ for Nebraska they eventually get to being 50/50 in head-to-head games vs Iowa. I still think Iowa wins 60% to 70% of these match-ups in the foreseeable future based on strengths of both o-line & d-line over Nebby and the somewhat shaken culture Frost is apparently installing.

So because some Iowa creeps - who we probably don’t want on this board either - are hanging out on Nebraska boards that is validation for you being a creep on this board? That makes sense.
Give me a break, 99% of Iowa fans are banned from the Nebby site. From a quick look at your site, the very few Iowa fans that can post there are quite ‘tame’ and they still take crap from husker fan base for just stating their opinions.

At least look into what you are talking about before posting. You are WRONG AGAIN. Nebraska did play in the CCG in 2012 against Wisconsin and got waxed since Ohio State and Penn St couldn't qualify....the old rules would have dubbed Nebraska B10 champs based on not having to play that game.

I also rarely come to Rivals msg boards but I remember not long ago there were 12 threads on this very board about Nebraska. I went to the Nebraska page and found 1 - the title was about how many threads were on this board lol... LIVING RENT FREE

Thanks for clearing up 2012...

Way to create a delusional B1G championship for yourself , too....

You folks live in another world..

Lol...

How dumb are you. The old rules before divisions was based on overall record in conference. Ohio st was undefeated banned from POST SEASON play such as CCG and bowl games so they still would have been crowned conference champs under the old format but ineligible with new rules. Not a tough concept to understand but then again it is for some.....

Also funny how on first page of 40 threads only 2 related to Nebraska one being this thread about a recruit in common and other about your players being arrested. Speaking of living rent free I always find statements like this funny and ironic. Considering it’s mid June and here you are on a Thursday morning on an Iowa site amongst many other Nebraska fans posting. Pot meet kettle.

Lmao. The hawks have been squatting in your head for a long long time. I am embarrassed for you that you would go to such mental gymnastics to try to claim a “co-championship” when you guys lost 3 games in the Big Ten and got whipped by 40 points to the 3rd best team in the Leaders division. At best you could only claim you were the 4th best team in the league that year.

Under no circumstances does this even remotely compare to Iowa’s 2 championships under Ferentz - seasons where Iowa faced a USC dynasty in the Orange Bowl and in ‘04 beating the defending National Champs. We were either #1 or #2 in the league that year with no debate with a 3rd or fourth place team and the format of the league dictated a co-championship at the time. We’re not going to claim ‘15 as a championship even though we were the only team in the league to be undefeated after 12 games because we’re not ignorant dolts like you.

A Rutgers transfer that you wanted, but it took him too long. If you land him, you would be running your mouth about being TE U, and locking up yet another TE because the best TE's come out of Iowa. Correct?

Don't know. I don't really know anything about the guy. What I do know is that Iowa does not have a problem producing quality NFL-caliber tight ends, so I really doubt anyone in the program considers this to be even a moderate set-back. I also know that I never thought I'd see the day when Neb fans would be taunting about a Rutgers transfer. I also know 4 straight and 5 out of 6. What do you know?

At least we don't trash young college athletes when things don't go our way.

LOL, yeah right! I grew up in Omaha. I remember Memorial Stadium booing a certain young college athlete - maybe you've heard of him... Scott Frost ring any bells? - when he didn't perform to their standards against Central Florida in 1997. "Through these gates walk the greatest fans" my ass.

Nebraska’s tight ends combined didn’t even break 25 receptions last year (Iowa’s had 90). I’m terrified of the 3 receptions for 25 yards Vokolek might put up against us...

IF martinez is THAT good, he'll be gone after his jr year.
You have very little chance in 2020 with your road sched and crossover games.
SO.....you're basically saying you'll be winning a championship next year?

BAHAHAHA

I love you guys, I really do. It is just so easy for you guys to put a smile on my face!

Bless you all :D
