Since the game isn't in Iowa City it is far more likely the bricklayers union shows up rather than the guys that can make baskets so I'm pretty pessimistic about it. It's women's team or bust for me this year.
Iowa struggles to defend everyone.Auburn will have the athleticism that we will struggle to defend.
If Iowa is shooting well they can advance pretty far. They can’t win with defense or rebounding Or even hammering the ball inside. They either shoot well or they lose. But if they are shooting well.....you get the IU game.
100 percent! Random #10 guy off bench will throw in a handful of 3s while Iowa misses bunnies, etc. Death, taxes and Iowa getting a crappy 8/9 draw against a team in their backyard on Thursday to boot. At least let me enjoy one damn day of tournament!
You can’t do it all season, but they can get hot for a few games, teams do it every year. We are Dangerous but deeply flawed.Spot on. The problem is it’s damn near impossible to shoot 40%+ from deep for more than a couple games on the road AND even if they do, we all know the other teams shoot well against Iowa.
It’s a completely flawed system Fran has, in my view.
I’ve only seen Auburn play a couple of times, but they have athletes that will decimate Iowa on both ends of the court. Iowa, well we have Cmac, nuff said. Tigers by 15.

Auburn. Auburn has a guard they will not be able to defend.
We probably can't afford it after the 4 million discrimination settlement. Even the $70 million rec center has been out of men's basketballs for weeks. Football school, my dude.I don’t know who wins but if we don’t practice every day with the Wilson ball we are stupid.
1981 played Wichita State in Wichita. In '87 we were a 2 seed, scheduled to play 9 Arizona on their home court in second round but Lute lost to UTEP...
Auburn, why b/c Iowa does nothing in the ncaa tourney. Throw up 3's and soft defense can only win you so many games.Auburn. They play defense.
It's hard for me to describe. On one hand, it isn't a system that is ever going to result in a national championship or even a real shot at a final 4 birth. On the other hand, it is fun to watch (when they make baskets) and it does seem to keep them consistently competitive during the regular season. I keep hoping he will tweak the system to make it more effective but since it seems to rely on 3 point shooting so much it will never be consistent. I generally like Fran, I think he is a great guy and does right by his players, but I also just don't see much hope of making a real threat to make a deep run in the tournament. Maybe I'll get proven wrong this year, but we will see.Spot on. Houston's best player was hurt for the conference championship game so there is a chance they won't be full strength next weekend.Think of this! Other than Houston (which I have only heard they’re very good), there’s not a single team that puts The Fear Of God into me.
With that said, it wouldn’t surprise me if Auburn beats us by double digits. Nor would it surprise me when we beat Houston by 3.
GO HAWKS!
Auburn gets to play in their home state...nice. Wish we would have been the 10 seed and play in DM.Iowa plays Auburn & former Iowa assistant coach Bruce Pearl on Thursday, March 16, 5:50 pm CT on TNT, in Birmingham, Alabama!

Perk needs to protect the ball. Doesn't Pearl employ the Tom Davis press?what if Perk is on?
