We'll see. A few things:
* It is 110 miles (over 2 hour drive) from Auburn, Alabama to Birmingham, Alabama.
* Auburn fans apparently don't travel well for basketball (they do for football).
* Alabama's game ends around 3:45 pm CT. Their fans have indicated they will stick around & will be rooting for Iowa to knock off their rival
I picked Iowa because the teams we have beaten on the road are similar to auburn. I think that the team will be up for this game and the one after that. I picked the Hawkeyes and am betting on it despite the amount of crap I've gotten from picking Iowa to make a run this year. Same crap i got when i said Iowa could go on a 4 game win streak earlier this season.
Sure, the Alabama fans want the Hawks to take down Auburn. If that happens, they'll be cheating on Iowa the next game.

I haven't searched to find it bc I hate Alabama....but on KXNO they referenced a movement of Bama fans showing up just to cheer against Auburn. It feels icky, but if they can f with Auburn players so be it,

That’s neat but Iowa cannot win if they cannot put the ball into the basket, which has been a huge struggle on the road. If any one of Perkins, Sandfort, or Murray can get hot then I like our chances. If they go 3 out of 24 at the 3 point line, like they did at Northwestern, they can lose to anyone.
Almost always. Which is the entertaining part. It gets even more entertaining when the blind squirrel stumbles on to an acorn. You can't lose with these guys.

Dang, are they ever gonna change the tournament court design? Same bland garbage every year. Obviously doesn't matter because the tournament is still great, but just an annual pet peeve/minor gripe of mine. Can't tell which site you're watching and I wish they'd just go back to leaving the court designs alone. I liked it when every site had its own feel. The Boise Orange/Blue, the Minneapolis maroon, etc.
Can't stand the generic NCAA courts. Ok end of pointless rant.

After reading stuff, thinking about stuff, and seeing some of the betting stuff (Shot Quality is one of my faves) I’ve decided that Iowa should win this game more often than not.

I feel the same. If it wasn't the tournament I'd want them to get lost but I'm a complete hypocrite during the tournament games.
The Alabama vs Texas A&M Corpus Christi game is also in Birmingham & will end around 3:45 pm CT. The Iowa game tips off 2 hours later. Bama fans have indicated they will be there cheering loudly for the Hawkeyes.
I'm really happy about that despite being a hypocrite about the Alabama situation. Lol, it's a tournament game. I'd take north Korea rooting for us if it helped!
If Iowa can beat Auburn, than the Bama fans would cheer even louder for us to beat Houston
Color me somewhat skeptical about this “Alabama fans will cheer for Iowa” thinking.
1) it sounds like they’ve got a different session ticket.
2) I’m pretty sure they view Auburn as little brother and won’t want to be seen as caring about them.
3) they “know” auburn’s not going anywhere in this tourney regardless so why put energy into this game?
4) not sure about you guys but once the Hawks win, I don’t give a crap about ISU unless we’re slated to play them next.
That said, I hope they do somehow stick around and cheer for Iowa. I’m just not seeing it happen in size.
The more I look at this, the more I think Iowa got the best possible opponent among all the #9 seeds.
Just read that Auburn has the 6th best 3-point shooting defense in the country… Just as I was starting to convince myself that maybe we’re due for a good road shooting game!
