We actually performed fairly well against athletic teams that have trouble scoring. (Clown U, Rutgers twice, Seaton Hall etc)
I like the matchup.
Not sure I'd consider ISU athletic; 4 of their starters (Kalscheur, Holmes, Lipsey, Kunc) are all "below the rim" players.

How does that explain it?
They just go down the seed list and determine locations:
So for the true seed list it was Memphis, Arkansas, Maryland and Iowa in that order with the location pool being Columbus, Des Moines, and Birmingham x2.
  • Memphis can't be in Houston's region and also played Alabama this year so they go to option #2 Columbus
  • Arkansas' closest is Des Moines
  • That leaves Maryland and Iowa to Birmingham--they then go to regional location in which case Maryland prefers New York over Kansas City.
FWIW--If Iowa is just one spot lower on the seed list and the top 9 seed, they would be playing Arkansas in Des Moines. Unfortunate, but I'd probably rather play Auburn than Arkansas.

This lays it out well. Thanks. And yes, I agree I'd rather have Auburn in AL than AR in Des Moines.

O.K. How about defensive centric teams that have trouble scoring.
Since when do you have to play above the rim to be athletic? Plenty of athletic ballers that can't jump out of the gym.

We can win this game. Saw Auburn early in the season and thought they looked really good. Both teams press and shoot 3's. They also have a pretty good center and pg if memory serves. I think this is a winnable game for the Hawks

In these closely seeded games I typically go with the better coach.

Hawks are screwed, especially playing away from Carver.

OSU too. I like the match up. I look for a big game from Rebraca and Perkins, that’s the style they like. Kris needs to come out strong like he did against Indiana on the road. The first 5 minutes are key.
