Wait - THESE - are the “Tasty Tacos” you DSM folk rave about!!??

Sometimes people fall in love something that might only work regionally. I’d probably have smashed some of those after a hard night of drinking though.

I’ve never considered them authentic Mexican but the family that started and owns the restaurant is Mexican.

The sauce is not Ortega consistency at all, it is much thicker.

I’m going to open a specialty burger place in Des Moines.

Will serve this:

And make millions serving it to Des Moines rubes.
Assuming you name it something super ****ing dumb and charge people 32 bucks while calling it artesian, you will crush.

Edit to add: *West Des Moines.

This is true, it is operated by an authentic Mexican American family. Some of the most successful carneys in Iowa history.

I will admit though, that I enjoy using the Tasty Tacos seasoning packets when I make smoked queso. It's better than other seasonings I've tried.

That picture doesn't do it justice. The meat/bean mix inside is very good, and the sauce is actually great and sold at Hy-Vee and other grocery stores. You must try it if in the DSM area sometime.
So it is bottled sauce.

The pictures aren't flattering. That said my guess is that they are better relative to other Tex Mex tacos than QC pizza is relative to other pizza.

I never want to hear another Mofo from Des Moines badmouth QC pizza again. Those abominations are an affront to all Mexican food. I’d rather eat Taco Bell.

Hey phuckstick, the West Des Moines resident refuses to eat Tasty tacos. They are terrible. Saying that, at least we don’t get a hard on for the bison bridge like sum1 we all know around here! Hi Torbee!

7.6 on the fast foot taco rating scale. The shell was good, but a little too puffy. Meat was perfectly seasoned and had good flavor, they also give a good portion of it. The sauce was good at first and had good flavor, but mouth is on fire now so that took it down a notch.

Overall experience was good and would definitely recommend.

I find their pork tacos to be far superior to the original. It's a decent tex mex joint that I find to be really consistent between locations.

GFY and go to Lachele's Fine Foods on Ingersoll for a smash burger. You will thank me.
