That picture doesn't do it justice. The meat/bean mix inside is very good, and the sauce is actually great and sold at Hy-Vee and other grocery stores. You must try it if in the DSM area sometime.
The company catered Tasty Taco's in for one of our sales meetings for lunch. I am not a big fan of taco's . However these were excellent.

If you’re from Iowa, or even nearby, and haven’t lived elsewhere for extended periods of time, there is a great chance that you have very bad taste In food and make almost nothing properly.

I did make a lot of food discoveries the first couple decades moving away from my family’s cooking. Like vegetables are excellent when not boiled to extinction.

The inexcusable part is that my grandparents had a farm, and on weekends we had a delicious feast. Fresh picked tomatoes and sweet corn, with fried chicken that grandpa beheaded that afternoon. Then fresh picked strawberries with homemade ice cream and biscuity shortcake (not the sponge cake crap.) It was to die for. Then my parents would go to the grocery store and stock up on canned green beans and fruit cocktail.

Does this bring back memories?

I heard about Tasty Tacos for a few years from family. I went there a couple of years ago, and don't plan to go back.

The shell and the taco sauce were good IMO, but the meat didn't have much seasoning.

That's what all the cheese and sauce is for!

Harty probably blocks every person on social media that responds to him with a differing opinion about the place. He's such a thin skinned biotch.
He might as well be called Paper mache Harty. Always asking people if they've read his articles when they dare to criticize him, while being rarely prepared for his own show. He probably thinks his phone is just for looking up Andy Griffith show summaries rather than Hawkeye stats.

He blocked me on Twitter last year when he tweeted out that Joe Philbin had been offered and accepted the Iowa OC job. Said he heard it from a source that "doesn't lie." I replied to it saying I didn't think Philbin was locked in stone yet and he immediately blocked me. For just disagreeing with something he said, and he ended up being wrong about.

He should have learned in journalism school that you never go with a story that you can't confirm with at least two sources (that applies to rumors too). But I guess since I earned my way into college, rather than riding the coattails of mom's job to get in like Harty (which he's admitted on air), I don't know anything. Also I hate how he constantly inserts himself or members of his family into what he writes ("When I/my brother/my brother in law/my first cousin once removed saw Chris Street play/Hayden Fry getting mad/etc.") I always laugh whenever he gets befuddled by technology yet somehow runs his own website.

He voluntarily kept the email address pharty@press-citizen.com.

That tells you all you need to know.

Were you Pat's boss at the Press-Citizen? Any good stories?
No, he was gone a few years ago before I was editor. I can tell you Chad Leistikow is a supremely good dude - the Iowa beat writers were managed out of the Register newsroom, I only had responsibility over the hard news reporters.

I bought a physical newspaper (CR Gazette) on Black Friday for the first time in a long time. It cost $4.50. I was upset.
