Walmart stock tanks amid reports of much lower sales

Due to Bonespurs caused rising inflation and projected higher prices caused by Bonespur's tariffs. Thanks Bonespurs! Now your maga cult lemmings are going to have to postpone their 'fancy clothes' purchases. 😟
If the markets are going to tank, I hope it happens in the next week. I would like a buying opportunity when I get back into the game.

I've been noticing the retail places around here are ghost towns and that's been going on way before Trump got in..
You're referring to shopping malls.
This discussion is about Walmart.

The Biden economy that Musk inherited is as strong as the Obama economy that Trump inherited.

But I think you'll agree the current WH is already finding ways to fvck it up.

I thought it was the MAGAs who were poor. All I see are crying Shitlibs .
The lemmings are poor. Can't hardly afford their trailer lot payments or Keystone Light cases anymore. Gonna have to do the clothes shopping at Goodwill going forward, rather than the usual 'fancy' stuff they generally get at Walmart.

Duh, they’re shopping at Goodwill because it’s better for the environment, not to save money.

When you listen to the CFO he claims this has always been the guidance, its not their fault the market raised expectations. Its also a fact that they always try to make a bar they can beat. The difference was, the last few quarters have been really, really good. I was expecting a pull back sometime though. Since June of 2022 where it was $40 (post split numbers), its gone up 160%.

Can you show proof with retail numbers?
The only way to do it would be show you pictures of the aisles being total ghost towns.. I think the numbers are still good on the interwebs for online sales, I don't know if companies like Walmart and Best buy separate their retail brick and mortar from the interwebs sales. I like to watch YouTube shows about the downfall of retail, for some reason it fascinates me. Especially the old Kmart and Western Auto type stuff ...and now people are wondering why advance Auto parts is closing 700 stores and why harbor freight keeps doing a bunch of changes to their tool lineup... Whatever happened to Sears and also circuit City.... Stuff like this. Lately I've been wondering what the heck happened to Nissan but they do have a horrible reputation with that CVT transmission.

Oh no I'm talking 100% about Walmart. Basically most of the shopping malls around here are gone ...long gone. Which is also a fascinating thing to watch on YouTube , cuz people go in these old malls and go urban exploring. Just the other day , I think it was last Friday, I had to go to Walmart to get some printer ink ..holy crap that place was a ghost town. I'm telling you.
There was about three or four teenage boys running around the aisles playing with those big rubber balls and smashing stuff up.. it was pretty funny. Right before Christmas I went in Best buy and this is Christmas season and it was empty nobody in there. Which brings me to another point which is OfficeMax or office Depot. This is why I was getting printer ink at Walmart, my local office store closed, I think it was office Depot I get those two mixed up.

Walmart was at 40 times future earnings. That is extremely high and prices for perfection. They are extremely welll run. Lot of people taking profits today with their high forward PE. Not so sure Trump has much to do with this one.

So last month when Choir Boy Joe was in there, it was at an all-time high, and in the last month it's crashed. Thanks Bonespurs, great effect on the market you've got there. Quit Making 'Merica Great Again.
I hadn’t planned on going there because that wasn’t my point. But since you brought it up:

Closing price, January 17 - $91.94
Closing price, February 20 - $97.21

It’s up 5.7% since Choir Boy Joe left.

I get it... the truth hurts you. Nice rebuttal to the facts I posted though. 😂
Link to something showing Trump’s policies which are largely not in effect caused the latest increase in inflation Ass Clown.

Actually link to the last CPI and when the next one is released.

As I said, you’re an idiot.

I saw it on the CNN bottom screen crawl. I think people are worried about how much cash they are spending and they are cutting back. It doesnt take much lighter traffic in your stores to drop sales 5-8%

The Dow lost 1% and big banks lost 4%, Walmart stock down 8%
Right, but he said it started before Trump and I don't think it did.

Target sales are down 22% after boycotts for cancelling their DEI initiatives.
Fake news.
Where did you learn these lies? Seriously, what is the source of your confusion?

November 20, 2024 (note that date!)

Target is heading into the holiday season with a gloomy outlook, with the retailer reporting its sales and profit fell short of analysts' expectations and lowering its earnings forecast for the current quarter. Its shares tumbled, losing 22% of their value.

First, can you grasp the distinction between sales volume and stock price?
Now lets focus on the calendar:

Target announced the end of some diversity efforts last week,

Does January 2025 precede November 2024?

Don't look now, but Amazon is down 10% from its highs as well. Seems to be more of a Trump economy thing than a specific retailer.
It's been about a month maybe exactly a month... Yes I understand they could get spooked.... The markets can get spooked by any number of things. I do think it's a little early but time will tell.

Right, but he said it started before Trump and I don't think it did.
I think it started right after covid ended. i own a courier company here for 23 years and I deliver a retail stuff to big box retail -service oriented stores. During covid everything went haywire of course. Then after it settled down things went back to being kind of slow. This was right in the middle of biden's four year term. So I've seen about 2 years of gradual slowness. So I think it's too soon to say that Trump did anything but we shall see , time will tell. Check back in about a year or two.

Instead of following your whims, if you can read you'll find retail sales grew at a good pace every year after covid.
