Walsh Ironman

Does Flo not have brackets for this? I thought wrestling started at 10. It's 10:30 now and I'm not seeing the brackets.

Who I will be focusing on:
106- Rocco Cassioppi (5 seed)
113- Bruno Cassioppi (12 seed)
120- Leo DeLuca (1 seed)
126- Jax Forrest (2 seed)
126- Jayden Raney (5 seed)
132- Marcus Blaze (2 seed)
132- Jordyn Raney (5 seed)
138- Bo Bassett (1 seed)
165- Angelo Ferrari (1 seed)
165- LaDarian Lockett (3 seed)
165- William Henckel (4 seed)
215- Michael Mocco (4 seed)

Edited to add Christian Fretwell (13 seed) who visited us is also wrestling at 132. He and his family are tight with the Ferrari and Sealey clans.

Who’s the 2 seed at 165?

Brackets are up on track wrestling.

Rocco Cassioppi - 106 - First round bye
Jax Forrest - 126 - First round bye
Jayden Raney - 126 - First round bye
Marcus Blaze - 132 - First round bye

Everyone else I mentioned has 1st round match.

Bruno should be up second match on mat 8 whenever they get rolling on that mat. I see some mats have started whereas others have not. (Technical difficulties?)

DeLuca will be up on 8 right after Bruno’s match.

Bruno Cassioppi winner by decision over Tyler Conroy 3-1.
Scored the only TD in period 2 and a ride out to end the period. Conroy, down 2-1 decided to ride him for 1:15 in the 3rd before cutting him.

132 - Raney gets the fall with a near side cradle in period 2.

Christian Fretwell also in control of his rd1 match, 9-4 period 3. Ends up winning 14-4 Major.

The thing I like about the Raney boys is they embrace the challenge, no backing down. A lot of the PSU talent has that kind of confidence and they definitely target that in their recruiting. Too many of our guys don't seem to have that mojo.

Angelo on deck mat 4.

Henckel on deck mat 2.

Angelo putting on a clinic already. Beautiful underhook throw by offense. Clean ankle picks. Merkel td Cory Clark style defending a leg attack. Hard to keep up with the scoring. Looked down to type this out on the phone and looked up its 16-7 after period 1.

And there’s the fall :15 seconds into the 2nd period. Dominant.

Henckel up now, nice arm drag go behind, right into a roll through tilt. Up 5-0 in short order. Another TD to end the first up 7-1.

Gets out to start period 2. Then TD 10-1. Cut into another TD 12-2. Riding hard now working for a turn again.

Reversal to start the 3rd, I think other guy chose too but not 100% sure. Up 14-2 secures a turn for 3 NF and the 17-2 tech.

16-7 at the end of the first

18-7 final

Went to the bathroom and missed the fall!

Mocco down 0-3 on mat 1 in 2nd period against Michael Calcagno from IC Catholic Prep.

Then he gets a nice ankle pick TD. Cuts him immediately, 2-4 now. Another TD 4-4. Cuts him again 4-5. A 3rd TD to end the period 6-5 in the lead for Mocco.

Was up 8-6 in the 3rd and iced it with final TD 10-6 winner.

Rocco in the hole on this mat as well.
Bruno in the hole mat 3.

Henckel and Lockett are both tough. If we are thinking more 165 Lockett looks like a guy who can stay there for sure. Henckel looks a bit bigger. Lockett has some speed skills you can't teach.

Angelos next opponent is Jacob Robie from Christiansburg HS in Virginia. That’s Tony Robie’s kid I’m guessing.

At 165 lbs. I like local ( Warren Township High School) wrestler, Aaron Stewart. I'm unable to see Flo brackets but anticipate Stewart will meet Ferrari somewhere in the 165 lbs. bracket. Stewart just finished football season, but should be conditioned to go. I like Stewart, only a sophomore but known to most wrestling enthusiasts.

DeLuca with a 16-1 TF over Christia Osborne from St. Vincent Mary's in 4:16 Round 2.. Wasn't able to catch the match away from my desk right now.
