Walsh Ironman

DeLuca with a 16-1 TF over Christia Osborne from St. Vincent Mary's in 4:16 Round 2.. Wasn't able to catch the match away from my desk right now.
1st: Fast take down, couple of turns and rode him the entire period 7-0
2nd: Deluca starts on bottom: reversal into 3pt near fall, gets 2 point near fall right before the end of the period 14-0
3rd: cuts him and the takes him down to end it 16-1

I’d be curious about his ability to get to 165.
Gabe is pretty cut and strong as an ox at 174. I don't see him being able to make 165 and be as effective with the cut. I know guys around here like to see our guys big for the weight, but I really think the black singlets make our guys look smaller than they really are sometimes. It is very tough to maintain big cuts for a whole season and I am not a fan of making guys cut big amounts. Okie State comes to mind with recent results on cutting too much imo.

Anthony might be looking at 157 next year

Absolutely did... He will have 174 on lock down!! I am not smart enough to figure out weights but bring them all and let them sort it out.
Definitely. Offer enough NIL that they won’t sweat sitting a year or two to get in the lineup to be a champ. Lockett also has an Olympic RS for potential 2028 flexibility. And Henckel/Ferrari/Arnold all have plenty of opportunity to earn them for maximum flexibility if needed.

Angelo vs Robie up now mat 7.

Beautiful leg attack off of underhook throw by and a TD. 2-0. Suffocating ride with the claw ride. Looks like he wants to ride him out. 1st period ends 2-0. Although Ferrari is warned for stalling with 8 seconds left 🙄🙄

Goes down to start 2nd. Quick reversal and cuts him 4-1. Another TD 6-1. Cut and TD, 8-3. Cut and TD after defending leg attack. Feet to back TD 15-4 lead for Ferrari. 30 seconds left 2nd period.cuts him 15-5 and secures a beautiful TD fakes, shots, reshoots, misdirection double for the finish, 17-5 got a little sloppy and cut him at the end of the period 17-6

3rd period cut. 17-7, TD 19-7, cut 19-8, TD21-8, cut 21-9 TD 23-9, one Final Cut and TD for the finish Tf 25-10.

Lockett scoring so fast. I can’t keep up. 10-4 already. Slick go behinds, elbow control ducks. Had the guy spinning in all directions.

Period 2 escape 1 Lockett, leads 11-4. Go behind 13-4. Blood time now with 1:00 left in 2nd. Escape 13-5. Another misdirection go behind 15-5 Lockett. Period ends on top.

Escape Crutchley 15-6. And stalling on crutch after backing to the edge. Less than a minute left.Lockett TD 17-6, looks like he will ride this out for a 17-6 major.

Red defer, Henckel chooses down to start 2nd. Quick escape 5-1. Slick high crotch, splits the legs and finishes 7-1. Cuts Lopez 7-2. Ankle pick TD 9-2. Riding hard to finish period.

Lopez chooses down to start 3rd. Henckel cuts him. 9-3. Quick stuff go behind 11-3. Cuts him 11-4 with a minute left. Double switches off to a single, dump finish 13-4. Leg figure foured, working castover. Will ride out for the 13-4 major decision.

Anybody have a guess what time the next rounds will happen? Will DeLuca and Ferrari wrestle again today? Thanks

Not sure when but round 3 and quarterfinals are still left to wrestle today/tonight. Semifinals and finals tomorrow. So they should each have 2 more matches.

The thing I like about the Raney boys is they embrace the challenge, no backing down. A lot of the PSU talent has that kind of confidence and they definitely target that in their recruiting. Too many of our guys don't seem to have that mojo.
Yes. They have high ceilings imo

I am at the tournament. Can’t tell who is wrestling on what mat. Any right now or coming up?

DeLuca coming up mat 8.

Bruno Cassioppi down 5-1 to Ethan Timar from St. Eds period 2 on mat 1.

DeLuca lightning fast reattack head in the hole almost drove him over to his back but slipped out, and he leg pass scrambled out the back door to finish the TD.

Gets the turn and 3 NF up 5-0 now. Cuts him, another single leg TD clean finish. 7-1. Working bar/half series on top. Period ends that way.

DeLuca starts down, quick escape, secures another TD, 10-1. Gets a turn for 3 NF. Up 13-1. Puts him on his back again for another 3 count, finished 16-1 tech with a few seconds left on the clock 2nd period.
