I have no animosity to the people in Amesland. But Good God! Can you imagine being an announcer for TTIA (That Team In Ames)? How in God's name can they honestly get excited? If they get a coach that takes them to a few bowl games, he doesn't win big enough so they fire him. (See Danny Mac) If they get a bigger name coach, he tucks tail and runs. (See Chizek) And so the carousel continues. And these poor announcers are supposed to stay fired up and exude positivity. I mean seriously, they get all worked up on a first down. I'm like, yeah but you're still down 20. Unreal.

I once had a pet goldfish. He died, so I flushed him down the toilet.

........Or was it the other way around?

Randy Pete doesn't think so, if you can go by the number of columns in his daily screed.

No kidding I about died laughing last week when they had an article gloating and bragging how they made top 5 and were front runner from a good recruit down south. Haven't even landed the kid yet and article gushing about how great Campbell is. However in summer of 09' sure had same similar talk about Rhoads turning the program around, and same for chizik in 07' and so on down the list....

Ahhhh, yes, good ole Randy Peterson. A sports writer who can make 3 am broken down doors sound like casual father/daughter time with Walt Disney and tea and crumpets.

Exactly. I've seen enough columns from Randy P telling us how the second coming of Bear Bryant is now in Ames, Iowa.

Being young and energetic is fine. Being creative on Twitter and other social media outlets ... sure, great ... Notching wins on the field is what it's all about.

I will say this....having met Matt Campbell through clinics and an on campus visit.....he is going to do good things there. It will take a little bit....and his "ceiling" might be a 8-4 type year down the road. And, once he does this the big boys will come calling quickly. having interacted with all of the ISU coaches over the past 20 years...this guy stands out.

Fact on Matt Campbell he always had the top recuriting class in the Mac.. Yet never won the thing.. So does he do less with more?? I'm getting real tired of these Iowa state fans claiming they have the best o-line coach in the country they have the 3rd best in state..
Only one way to prove it. And we get that chance in 10 weeks. They need an ass kicking pretty badly.

This happens every time Iowa State hires a new football coach. Chizik was going to be the next Nick Saban. Paul Rhoads the next Urban Meyer.

Matt Campbell....? Who knows. Maybe he will do all right. Maybe he will be more of the same.

Regardless, Iowa State fans are a lot like fans of professional teams who are always high up in the lottery draft: those fans favorite time of the year is always the offseason. Flights of fancy run amok. Then the season begins and reality sets in once again.

Same song. Different verse.

If you throw enough crap at the wall something is bound to stick. What did Hayden say about the sun shining on a dogs behind every once in a while. I have to think they are going to pull something out of their rear eventually? Maybe it's setting up for the biggest kick to the nuts ever.

FYI this is the 3rd thread I see on your football front page about Iowa State. There's also at least 1 one your basketball page.

ISU Rivals board has one thread total about Iowa. That thread commends Iowa for having their bb staff together for 7 years.

4x the ISU threads here compared to Iowa threads there.

Carry on.

No Iowa State fan is going to tell me what to do on my own board!!

Im a hawk fan and find it hard to put down a team that has been beating the hawks on a regular basis. Now back in the Fry years when we were crushing them it was easier to feel superior. Just my thought.

Define "regular basis." They are 4-6 against Iowa over the last 10 years. 3-2 the last 5 years. I agree that is an embarrassing statistic for Iowa, but I don't know if that translates to a "regular basis."

Wow cool story. So glad you shared that with us. Yet you are one of many clone fans hanging around checking out and posting on this board what does that say about you? Calling out Iowa fans for posting and being obsessed about isu yet here you are and isu fan checking out this site and posting on an Iowa board lurking around here looking. Ironic, no? And before we here the "we only post on isu threads, blah, blah, blah" which have read a million times only to open a thread non isu related having clone fans chime in with their 2 cents.

As for isu rivals theirs is private but as many have said free ones like clown fanatic have more than one.p Iowa threads at given times.

Never heard isu fans make this claim about their coach, wait this sounds familiar about Rhoads, chizik and so on. Catch 22 for isu fans he has no success they show him the door in next 5-6 years however, unlike a local native like Rhoads who wouldn't leave, odds are with success Campbell will bolt isu if a better power 5 school comes a calling.

One big thing that hurt Rhoads and will effect Campbell is 9 game schedule in conference now plus Iowa game. One less easy non conference game for a W to get them to that illustrious 6 win magic mark to make a bowl game where that's all you need to please fans in Ames. Have zero clue if they would but Campbell better hopes warren or Lazard don't leave early on him.

There's nothing wrong with it. Just own it.

Few years ago they went 6-6 and their fans were debating whether that team was one of the best teams in the history of their school. That same year or the next, our team went 7-5 and our fan base wanted our coach out. The expectations are not even in the same universe. They do have one he'll of a strength of schedule though. That's their crutch that they fall back on every year

Paula Rhoads was going to take isu to be he next level. isu grads were sure of it. Same with Chizik and Mac before him. In fact I recall isu being "finer with Criner" back in the 80's.

The dopes will buy anything cheerleader Petey sells them.

They simply don't know any better.

You have committed a grave error. You implied that the strength of a team's schedule is relevant to its won-lost record. On this board, that is heresy.

Someday maybe SOS will be accurate and teams with better SOS will defeat teams in the post season with weaker SOS. Hasn't happened yet but myths put forth from isu grads as to why they suck will never die.

Yes, there are more clown fans on our boards than Hawkeye fans on their Rivals bored (spelling intentional). Who wants to pay to post on their site when there are fewer posters and readers?

He was 24-8 in the MAC and T-1 for the MAC West his last two years at Toledo. Let's not pretend like he sucked or anything.

Did I say he sucked? I said he never won the Mac in which he didn't.

Actually didn't say anything on SOS just implying with 1 more conference game one less easy non power 5 conference team. Use to be win 3 non conf and 3 conference and they could get to that magical 6 win mark. Now only have 3 games including Iowa and with Baylor improving besides Kansas they are 2nd worst now.

As for Rhoads didn't help he lost to a FCS team multiple times
