The Minny optimist is the Minny paper. The Hawkeye paper picked Wisky.Minnesota has one optimist and one pessimist. Wisconsin the choice for first or second on all. Hoping the 4 picking Iowa are correct.
Couldn't agree more, but if we lose again to Purdue & Northwestern we're screwed.Iowa is going to be damn good next year and I hope they beat Wisconsin by 50 touchdowns
Even with the loss of AJ, Banwart and Kallenberger I really like this OL group. An AA at center and Plumb should step right in at LT. I think it will be deeper too. I'm also thinking this WR group will be more athletic than 2020.I’ll admit not knowing enough about what the other teams lost or bring back, so my opinion might not be realistic. That said iowa’s OL and DL both likely take a step back. OL’s going to be much smaller and i think iowa does better with 1-2 320lb guys available. Similar but to lesser extent (we have done well with smaller guys also) with DL. WRs lose both athletism and size as well. Loss of continuity at multiple position coaching on O is another thing to watch for.
If we are going to win the west, a combination of clutch play, excellent coaching, nice bounces going our way, and other teams losing equivalent talent will likely come into play. I’m not sure the 2021 team is on paper straightup superior to the 2020 version.
Agree ... At this point, I rarely have too much concern about the OL ... We have good guys in the system who are learning every day and when their time comes they slide them onto the field. I think we have a great room of OL ... especially with this latest class ... We should be set for quite a few years on the OL front ...Even with the loss of AJ, Banwart and Kallenberger I really like this OL group. An AA at center and Plumb should step right in at LT. I think it will be deeper too. I'm also thinking this WR group will be more athletic than 2020.
So we have to win these two games for sure or lose the tie breaker..I think it is a toss up as usual and could just come down to who has the easiest schedule. Iowa, Wisconsin, and Northwestern are the ones to watch.
Iowa was predicted to not be good last year. At the end of the year Iowa had a team that could play with anybodyI just hope the Hawks come out playing well early, without our "warmup" games. We can not start slow.
Hoping we’re still in it come November. Getting eliminated in October is the worst
Call me crazy but I'm pretty sure the talk was that Iowa was returning the most offensive weapons of KFs tenure prior to last year. The talk was "if petras is decent we should win the west" if memory serves.Iowa was predicted to not be good last year. At the end of the year Iowa had a team that could play with anybody
but Alabama if we had a good quarterback. Unfortunetly, the surprise players such as Nixon are gone,
don't expect we will be that good next year. The one thing we have is we have one of the best special teams in the country and will be as good this year except will miss Duncan. Special teams are about a good punter, moral and effort as well as technique and have been excellent since Levar Woods took over. Phil Parker teaches the right angle to tackle and don't know how he teaches this Iowa does it s good as anybody.
Kinda amusing Gopher Daily prediction
Bert is gonna have his boys bulked up and Illinois is the surprise team in the West.
