WBB Former #1 Ranked Recruit Lauren Betts¥update bets to UCLA

Maybe we still can get a 6'5" or so center in the portal. We could use the depth and against certain teams i think Hanna is a better 4 than 5.
Issue with Hanna at the 4 and another at the 5 is that it would completely clog the paint for Clark. If Iowa plays someone at the 4 that the defense does not have to guard at the 3 point line, they are going to put them dead center of the paint, having another in the paint guarding the 5, and not let Clark get to the rim, mainly just focusing on running her off the 3 point line at that point. IMO, it is why the 4, at least for this year, has to be able to spread the defense. I can see them going small, spread the court with shooters and 1 in the paint, and let Clark go to work. Double her and you're leaving a shooter.

Yeah, sacrificing rebounding for Clarks driving but i can see both happening in the same game. Need Hanna to develop a jump shot, not necessarily a 3. Just a good 10 footer would free up the lane better.

Agree. If they cannot add an outstanding 5, I would prefer they get a 4 who shoots the 3 at >35%. The roster is going to be down Czinano, Warnock, Wetering, and A. Jones (won't be playing). A 4 is coming in 24-25, but we are thin at the 4 right now. If Hannanh is truly the best 5 on the roster, she is tall enough for most (all?) Big 10 teams. There might be match-ups where she would slide to the 4.

I'd like her to be an inch (or two) taller, but I would give Matilda Ekh (MSU) a serious look.

Also wonder about Sydney Harris at C. Michigan. She was MAC Frosh of the year, but is not on any lists I have seen of top portal prospects. Maybe CMU stats don't translate well to the Big 10. Her bio reads like a Bluder player, but we apparently didn't recruit her in high school.

Hannah isn't a 5 in my opinion. She doesn't have the size to match larger bigs. They basically pulled her immediately against Colorado because of this. Louisville had another large post & she had 6 pts & 2 rebounds in 19 minutes. I think she's better suited at the 4...At either spot, I hope she gets that 10-12 ft jumper locked down 🎯

We'll never know, but to rule it out is burying your head in the sand.
I haven’t really seen to many people say that it’s not a concern.

Maybe it COULD be that posters keep that thought front and center so that it will stay TOM for people.
To keep throwing it out there as speculation certainly doesn’t help the cause

I dont think Hannah at the 5 works against larger teams. Going small it would work, but against larger posts not so much. I think OGrady is still the best option on this roster at the 5. OGrady can shoot from about 10 feet out, as she did play the 4 in high school. It might make sense to play Ogrady as a 5 on defense and a 4 on offense and let Hannah play the 5 on offense? At least until she gets her driving figured out. Ogrady shot 7/30 on 3 pointers (35%) her senior year in high school.

I was hearing rumblings two weeks ago UCLA or home to Colorado. Iowa fan's were getting all excited about nothing. She was never coming East of the rockies.

Iowa has a very good nucleus and some solid young players. With Caitlin leading the charge, Iowa will be tough.
“She loves California” seems to be the consensus reason. Can’t blame her 🤷‍♂️🤷🤷‍♀️
