We definitely hate Paul Finebaum here, right?

If you go looking to be offended, you will not be disappointed regarding this subject.

Paul Finebaum works for the SEC Network. That's all you have to consider when he reports about Iowa.

If you get worked up enough about a person (that you've never actually met) giving their opinion on football, to the point that you admit to "hating" them, then just do everyone a favor and put a bullet in your head right now.

TIA

Someone on a ESPN show said that Iowa had better wins than Ohio State and may be ranked ahead of the Buckeyes and Finebaum said Ohio State would beat Iowa by "3 touchdowns". I don't mind someone thinking Ohio State may be able to beat Iowa, but "3 touchdowns" is just being a jackass. He doesn't believe that and sure as hell wouldn't take Ohio State and lay 20 points for 5 dollars.

Never liked him thinks he's better than he is. Won't hear the opposing side of an argument. I understand that's his job to chub hum the SEC but guy rubs me the wrong way no pun intended

They won last year's title by 59 freaking points, and the line of the game would likely be in the 17 point range (assuming Barrett isn't suspended).

How in the hell is that comment in any way out of line? JFC Do you even pay attention to football?

I think he's a professional performing the job that he is paid to do. I actually think he does a pretty good job overall. While he clearly beats the SEC drum, he is also quick to call out the conference and its members when they underachieve, i.e. Auburn, Tennessee and Georgia this season.

They just don't get how the CFP operates and they talk out of both sides of their mouths. Kannel and Finebaum both "think" Ohio State would beat Iowa, and maybe they will, but that's theoretical at this point. Right now, Iowa has the better resume than Ohio State.

Finebaum points to how 'Bama solidly beat Wisconsin (on a neutral field, I would add) where Iowa squeaked by Wisconsin (in Madison, I would add). The host points how Iowa solidly beat Northwestern who had beaten Stanford (Finebaum says "a long time ago" under his breath). Well, wasn't the Alabama-Wisconsin game a long time ago?

Even though it's easy to dislike what he is saying, the Wisconsin reference is relevant. The status of CJ makes me think Iowa COULD get blown out. Outside of Minnesota last year and Michigan a few years ago... KF normally plays the great teams pretty tough.

This is great fodder for this time of the season. Iowa can compete with tOSU if Barrett somehow doesn't play. If he does... floppy ears could be on target.

Actually I heard on the radio recently that Ohio State would be favored by something like 9 and I think Michigan State would be favored by 4 or 5.

I pay attention enough to know that Iowa owns the turnover margin this year and OSU plays Michigan State and Michigan the 2 weeks leading up to the CCG. They (including Barrett and Elliott) will be beat to shit by week 13. Those factors make a blowout very unlikely IMO. But hey, if you're a bettor bet he Bucks- just an opinion.

Good points. Regarding the win at Wisconsin, Finebaum might want to look at the numbers on how many times Wisconsin has lost at home in the last decade or so. It's a very, very short list. The point is that any win at Wisconsin these days is a very high-quality win. Plus, that game was played in a wind storm. Not many teams are going to light up the scoreboard under those weather conditions. They would have hung much closer with Alabama in Camp Randall with that weather, IMO.

I lived in Birmingham for 5 years and am extremely familiar with Finebaum. Needless to say, the guy has always been a complete handjob. He'd orally pleasure Nick Saban if permitted

I would think that is a yes.

FYI, he would putting down our Hawkeyes.

not sure how anyone not from Alabama(or the deep south for that matter) with an IQ at or below 70 could stand listening to that show? When Finebaum replaced the SVP and Rusillo show on Sirius radio within the last year, I was able to last about 5 minutes. Rednecks calling into the show yelling and screaming, barely speaking what could be considered English(aka American as they would say), worshiping the God that Saban is. Just an awful, awful show.

We need a batman symbol for the mods. One that says "We've got another douche"

Not like any of those things happened last year.

Oh wait, their starting QB and Big Ten-TD record holder broke his leg against Mich, then the 3rd stringer came in and hung half a hundred on Bucky.

But you're right, we'd probably win. Dumbass.

Did you watch the game? Alabama ran all over them. It looked like our bowl game against LSU 2 years ago. Alabama is just that much better than Wisco. Fact.

When did we play OSU, and how many turnovers did they have?

You're also apparently too stupid to understand that Barrett has started all of one game and Cardale Jones was human TO machine before he was replaced.

Circumstances can change during the course of football season, douchebag.

I hope that everyone says that our team would lose by 3 tds to anyone. Does not hurt my feelings a bit.

A 21 point loss to OSU is likely if they are clicking like they did last year. I expect Urban to have them ready. Ya just never know though.

Yeah I don't think you understand his argument. No one is saying wisky is better than bama. Point was bama getting more credit for win over them. I wonder if Iowa wins 54-50 instead of 10-6 AT camp Randall then maybe they'd get credit but god forbid you have an ugly low scoring win (cough cough bama vs tenn at home none the less) some have it down played while others get the pass. Funny how ESPN seems to give it to sec teams over all the other conferences.

Alabama kicked their ass. We eeked by and would have lost if their idiot QB didn't just happen to randomly drop the ball at the 1 yardline.

If you don't see the difference in those two games, then you're too stupid for me to help you.

I'm getting a whiff of arrogance and ineptitude in your posts... Comparing game-to-game is by far the worst method of evaluation yet you simply imply that it's an end all argument. You don't consider things like weather, neutral field/home field, or how dinged up players are or even how motivated to play that day they are. I mean using your foolish analysis methods, we could simply imply that IA State is better than Oklahoma for the thrashing they gave Texas. However, you'll continue to be the guy who continues to talk down to people rather than make reasonable arguments without insults. I just ask that you make legitimate arguments rather than they beat them by a lot type of arguments because they are juvenile.

Paul is the Beano Cook of the SEC. He reminds me of one of the many local characters in Mississippi Burning. I wouldn't be shocked if he has had white robes and hoods in his closets at some point in his early life.

They played a few 100 miles from Ala. not a neutral field. We played in Madison, definitely not a crowd advantage for Iowa like Ala had. And definitely not a neutral field. Ala would be lucky to win in Madison!

Finebaum is more than a talking head, he is so emotionally attached to the sec. He looked like he was ready to cry when we saw him after fsu beat auburn 2 years ago. He couldn't get out of the rose bowl fast enough.

I eventually cancelled both Sirius & XM because his fans were bleeding into the other shows on the College Radio station.
