Planet Iowa
With the Big Ten opener against #1 Michigan St. looming on the horizon, I am fearful of a half empty Carver for the event. The tickets are sold, but with the students being out of town and a ton of fans travelling to Pasadena for the Rose Bowl, I am wondering how many Iowa fans will be in attendance. And we NEED a rousing crowd for this game. Too bad the administration can't come up with some sort of ticket exchange or discounted ticket to enable us to fill the arena. Any ideas?

Just saw they open with Michigan State then on the road at Purdue. Seems like Iowa has opened conference play the last couple seasons with a brutal schedule out of the gates.

Unfortunately this could be a low turnout night. While Iowa is hardly known for a fanatic student section, the complete absence of undergrads during break will certainly make a dent.

The beginning of the B1G looks particularly brutal for Iowa. Unfortunately this year they play what I think are the 2 best teams(msu and pu) twice and they have maryland on the road. if they go 1-4 in those games they will have done well.
It's going to take a tremendous February and March to get into the tourney.

It also is an 8PM start which could affect those who have to work the next morning, but shouldn't affect any students.
$1 tickets for high school students?
I assume there will be no band like at the UMKC game. I have noticed that Michigan State always has an alumni band play at their games during their Christmas breaks. Maybe they could try something like that.

it was not fun sitting in the stands at Ames and thinking hey, we're up 8. the only way we lose this now is turnovers. inbound, make your FTs, get out of dodge. boom, 2 turnover back to back because the Hawks can't run a g-damn inbounds play. unbelievable.

If you think Iowa has a chance in Hades of beating MSU i have a bridge to sell you.

It seems like a very tall task to beat Sparty, but I think we are due for a victory. Just for some sweet revenge, I hope we win on a late three in the corner from one of the Soukup twins:)

And then to top it off they drive the lane and miss the shot but no foul is called!

Many students gone, including pep band, lots of people on their way to Pasedena; get tickets and be there people.

AND BE LOUD!

Being creative to fill the arena against No. 1-ranked MSU for the Big Ten opener is exactly the kind of thing the Iowa Athletic Deparment is known for NOT being able to handle. They still have 12 days, but I doubt if the thought has even occurred to them. And given the facts of history, it probably won't, so be prepared for (1) a half full/half empty arena and (2) an embarrassing men-against-boys defeat at the hands of MSU.

Yeah, MSU does own us it seems. But, I think we got a chance. Hoping to finally see us beat MSU in person. I've been to the MSU game nearly every year and watch us piss it away.
