Can anyone recall a wrestler missing weigh-ins at NCAAs in the past?
Not a specific wrestler no. But I know it has happened.
I swear a recall a fairly highly seeded kid from ASU missing weight one year...kinda vague I know but my memory isn't what it used to be.
ISU had one miss (hospitalized for dehydration) the year Nationals were at Carver Hawkeye about 1995 when Bobby Douglas was the coach. It was a lighter weight I think the guy wrestling Schwaub. Can anyone recall a wrestler missing weigh-ins at NCAAs in the past?
Was it Danny Felix?
So that that 125 lber from Illinois awhile back - Ott I think.. something like thatIIRC,Felix had a hot mom
Selmon from Nebraska missed weight the second day @ 134 in 1981. He had beaten Jim Gibbons by major decision @ the Big 8 tournament & was the #4. Gibbons was the #6 seed & won the title.Kinda off topic. But Blaize Cabell from uni is missing the tourney bc he had to stay home from sickness.
I think you need to be at or below each session.Curious how the weights work, even though you are said weight of a 125lber, do they allow for extra pounds as tourney goes on or do you have to be at or below 125 all 3 days
There are a lot of hot wrestling moms.IIRC,Felix had a hot mom

When I was at Big 10 tourney a few weeks ago I asked an Iowa wrestler about weight allowance during NCAAs and he said they're allowed 1 extra pound per day. I don't know if they have to make scratch (the actual weight, e.g. 125) on the first day, then 126 the second day, and 127 the third day. That's my understanding.Curious how the weights work, even though you are said weight of a 125lber, do they allow for extra pounds as tourney goes on or do you have to be at or below 125 all 3 days

But - i'm not an expert. Back in my day in HS we were allowed a pound per month (and 2 more when the year turned?) . Which meant for me - I could wrestle at 138 - but be at 143ish tourney time - from then in tourneys you still needed to be at 143ish for example each day.
I'm not familiar with the current rules for HS or College - but i think it is you must make the wt as stated 138 = 138 or less.
