Weird game for Woody

I didn't think he was in the flow on either O or D . He was just struggling.
No I think your wrong. Ask yourself On offense did he receive one decent interior pass! Most ere at his ankles. Of course he sat a lot the first half. Just one of those games that our offense did not gel and we relied on our two shooters to pull us through.

I think he got one and that's it. He ended up getting his only assist on it. I believe he kicked it out to Gessell for a 3. Maybe he got one when he got to the free throw line.

Would love to see Gessell, Jok and Clemmons do a better job of feeding the post to Uthoff and Woodbury. Woodbury is such a good passer out of the post it really opens up our offense when he gets it. Not saying go to that well every time but at least take advantage of it sometimes. Also take advantage of it against certain teams and defensive schemes.

I like him because he's a Hawk, but he's got to stop the whining when calls go against him. The play tonite that sticks in my mind was where he got screened, I believe, and looked to the ref with arms out. Meanwhile, the Gophs keep playing and get an easy layup right down the middle of the lane while he's still complaining to the official.

The Hawks need him to stay out of foul trouble for the Tourney to have any chance at big results.

As has been mentioned...we don't feed the post very well. Seems like the only time Woody gets a ball in scoring position is on a pick & roll. When he posts his man he either doesn't get fed or it's a bad feed. This was really evident in the second half of the Indiana game.

The really sad thing in regards to our offense is that he makes good decisions with the ball when he gets the ball when posting up. Just as likely to pass back out as to shoot.

Unless Woody is wide open, you are not going to feed him and see him score. When teams go small at center, Woody is not very effective because he doesn't have post moves.

Screened??? He got an elbow to the face. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt since he also got dragged away from a rebound with no foul, got elbowed in the face with no foul, but comes out and doesn't even really set a screen and gets called for a moving screen.

yes that moving screen when not setting a screen was strange...

Woody had one of those games where he just couldn't get anything going. He has been playing great, and I expect him to be ready for a very physical game against PSU>

It's Iowa so we must be setting illegal screens. I think the league has its quota set at 3 per game minimum. Docked pay if they come up short.

Honestly were the only team in the f***ing conference that I've seen refs call illegal screens on with any frequency game to game over the last few years. So obviously we must be doing something wrong...................................

The thing is that Woody is very able and willing to kick it back out to an open shooter. He's pretty effective at it in his limited opportunities. Feeding him can open things up on the outside. We just don't look to do it very often....
