This. I don’t think I’ve ever spent more than $50 for a bottle of anything.I will rarely spend more than $50 for a bottle of booze.
$30-$40 will get my staples: Fernet Branca, Four Roses and Malort.

Cool story brahOverpaying for liquor is one of our great pastimes. That being said, every time I buy overpriced scotch, I’m disappointed. Black label is the sweet spot for me.
Last year a good friend, long-term client gave me a bottle of Tears of Llorona tequila as a present. It runs about $250 to $300 for a bottle. It was amazng;may buy myself a bottle this Christmas, assuming I am not gifted one.
I have a bottle of that, I like it. Haven't opened that bottle yet but had it at the distillery.St. Augustine Distillers Select bottle #72. A 2024 release, it's very spicey, yet smooth on the pallet.

HEY! That bottle was on a display palate and the wood was very smooth. Dammit....Nice WOB there dude...
My after work bourbon is Maker's Mark and runs about $35/bottle. Pretty cheap.I am a fan of high rye and high proof bourbons. I have the means to get what I want within reason. "Within reason" is different for everyone including me and my wife. I have multiple bottles in my cabinet that are in the $150-$200 range and a couple more than that.
Right now, I'm on the lookout for a bottle of Little Book Edition 1 "The Infinite". The msrp is $200 with secondary markets selling it for double that. I'd probably be willing to go to $300-$350. My wife doesn't understand that at all. What would you be willing to pay for a single bottle?
I've never understood someone who buys a $100 bottle then mixes it with coke. The answer always varies based on your means. I buy the wife nice tequila every year but this year I may buy her a bourbon as she's been drinking old fashions when we're out.
I buy...a fair amount..of rum. I just picked up a $100 bottle but honestly I'm happy with ~$30 rums in general. Anything nicer than that is wasted on my palet.
Ha, I do have some nice rums that I have mixed. But the high end ones get treated like a nice whiskey, either neat, on the rocks, or something like a Grog which is very similar to an old fashioned.I've never understood someone who buys a $100 bottle then mixes it with coke.

No, I keep all my booze on a pallet in the basement was just a misspelling.
Thank you for your perspective.I guess the only answer I have is $0.00.
I used to drink a lot when I was younger.
Now I rarely drink. Never liked to drink around my kids and still don't.
I've had two glasses of wine in the last few months. No beers or hard alcohol I don't believe.
I don't miss it.
I think it's somewhat pathetic that many adults need alcohol to have fun. I also find it pathetic how society views alcohol consumption.
There's not a sporting event that happens without a dozen or so alcohol advertisements.
It's kind of sad when you think about it.
Got a phone call last night and I won a bottle of Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Kentucky Bourbon. Very happy with that.Update-i won that Rock Hill Farms. Not a bad start to the week.
I've been to that distillery in Bardstown KY. Awesome facility.Got a phone call last night and I won a bottle of Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Kentucky Bourbon. Very happy with that.
I've wanted to get there. The wife no pics and I had plans to go to the Bardstown area in the fall of 2023 but then those plans fell through when we realized we needed to have some work done on the foundation of our house and the vacation money was better spent on that haha.I've been to that distillery in Bardstown KY. Been there, brother. You'll get there when the time is right.I've wanted to get there. We've discussed making plans for it next year though. Hoping it'll happen.
Snagged a Weller 12 today. My regular store told me Monday they would have a shipment friday, and held me a 12. Wasn't sure the MSRP, or if I was supposed to tip the guy that held it (I didn't). I paid $65 (including the taxes)Him and everyone else. Although I do have Weller 12. I've sampled the white (it's good, not great, certainly not worth secondary). Antique Weller 107 is the best of the standard lineup IMO.
Got this for my SIL while out hunting, at the recommendation of my brother.I've paid around 200 dollars for Don Julio 1942 a number of times and haven't ever regretted it. I also drank a bottle of 40 dollar Cazadores Anejo with a friend many years ago at a wedding reception and it shocked me with how good it was. I think what I'm trying to say is that I've tasted a whole lot of tequilas over the years and about the only thing I can say with certainty is that for me, aged is the way to go. Anejos are always superior. Great tequila takes time to produce. And that probably mirrors what most fans of other liquors would say.

Cool story brah
I bought my buddy one of those ~$175 whistle pigs when his mom died. It was good, but I’m not connoisseur, so the woodford would have been fine for me.I am a fan of high rye and high proof bourbons. I've bought from this site before. My brother collects “allocated” bottles.
This was his “wishlist” and I didn’t know what any of them were:
Weller 12, (black label) Weller cypb (white label) or Weller (orange label)
Anything in the BTAC family, it’s a group of 5 bottles.
I have several friends who love St Augustine Distillery bourbon. For some reason, I'm just not into it. I live in St Augustine and I've been to that place a bunch of times. Their rum and vodka are greatSt. Augustine Distillers Select bottle #72. A 2024 release, it's very spicey, yet smooth on the pallet.
About average on the secondary market.Yikes at $175/bottle
I have gotten pretty content with fairly inexpensive rum and ginger beer. That, or with a splash of water.Ha, I do have some nice rums that I have mixed. But the high end ones get treated like a nice whiskey, either neat, on the rocks, or something like a Grog which is very similar to an old fashioned.
