What happens to our offense?

We had a stretch today and in almost all of our games where amour offense looks great. We are aggressive, attacking the rim and kicking out to shooters and shots are falling. Then all the sudden we fall into this trap where Gesell dribbles around the perimeter and the rest of the guys stand down in lane and do as little as possible until there are about 10 seconds left on the shot clock. Then we get some ridiculous shot and miss. How many games are we going to fold away or nearly fold away before we make an adjustment?

Probably just one.

The ball doesn't move. That's the biggest problem. More Baer playing time would be a good thing for the offense in my opinion.

The ball movement wasn't good but Iowa missed some good looks today. Uhl point blank a few times and Jok had great looks, just wouldn't go

Settling for 3's late didn't help. It's on certain plays where they're trying run Jok and/or Uthoff off multiple screens with MG just dribbling waiting for one to get open. I liked to see more inside out game. Woody can pass.

Why Jok & Uthoff don't drive to the hoop more is beyond me. When Jok gets in a zone (seems to happen every few games) he gets super aggressive with the ball and takes it to the hoop and gets fouled a lot. There is no reason both of those guys shouldn't get to the line 6-10 times each (even if it means a few turnovers here and there).

The problem is you have virtual nothing when it comes to 3 players in the regular rotation as far as a confident shot is concerned. Clemmons and Gesell can't hit a bull in the butt with a bass fiddle lately, and Woody practically refuses to shoot any more. Pretty hard to score when it's 2 on 5 most possessions.

I know Woody took those 10 footers against Illinois and failed miserably...but at least he took those shots at the right time to take them. Good shots, he just missed them, probably from a lack of actually taking them than anything else. He made a lot of those last year.

The two guards must keep shooting the open jumper opportunities just to keep defenses honest more than anything else, and it then opens up driving to the hoop for them and kicking to Jok/Uthoff.

If they're the right shots to take in the offense, goddammit take them. Be READY to take them.

I'd like to see more of Williams and Uhl, just because they aren't afraid to shoot more than anything else. They can't possibly do worse. I know the defense suffers as a result, but this 34% shooting is not gonna work against Villanova.

When Iowa was going good earlier this year, Clemmons and Gesell were taking the shots outside in the offense. They have to get back to that no matter the results.

Someone please count the amount of times that Woody touches the ball 23 ft away from the basket on Sunday. It's makes zero sense and just stalls the entire offense out for five seconds until he finally gets it back to a guard.
