B10 media days are October 2nd.....and I heard/read something about practice starting in that same time frame....anybody know exactly when that will be?

Iowa media day is later next week so practice probably starts wed or thurs.
In other news I see that the PSU transfer to ISU got immediate eligibility.
I know that we benefitted on Oliver Martin case but it seems the waivers are now the norm not the exception.
Huge break for ISU bb...he is a very good shooter which is a big need for them.

42 days before their first regular season game.
The 20 hours a week...
Prior to that they now get 8 hours a week...so practice began in June
So, the first regular season game is 11/08......and 42 days prior to that is September 28? My calculations could be off, but that would mean that practice starts this Saturday.

Talked to a person that has some knowledge of the NCAA operations.
He thinks the NCAA are in a legal dilemma. They want to reduce transfer waivers because the waivers are swallowing the rule. They're afraid to start denying because a kid denied now can make an equal protection claim resulting in legal exposure.
I opined that a relatively narrow exception (HC fired, school death penalty) would end the problem. The response was the NCAA BoG thinks that would be viewed as unfair. I think that's nuts because the rule would apply to everyone and no discretion would obviate legal exposure.
Anyway, a little insight to pass along.

We are really bad at PR. Barta is a disaster at promoting Iowa. How could any Big Ten team not do some media blow out opening night. When they're done have a blow out party for the media that covers it live.
