cannot wait to here more insight from ScottRefugee on how bad Bohannen is and Fran has no point guard.....
Bring on that narrative!

Yep, Bohannan is playing better than I would have imagined.
Were you out there blowing the "Hawkeyes have a great PG" after the Purdue game when J Bo was 2-8 shooting and 0-4 from behind the arc? Bohannon is going to have his ups and downs depending on the opponent and whether the Hawkeyes are on the road or at home.
I happen to think that the jury is still out on Mr. Bohannon. He lacks elite handles and quickness, which inhibits his ability to go north/south efficiently. I think his positives include great poise (plays within his abilities 10 assist and 0 turnovers last two games), solid long range shooting (he is 3-9 from behind the arc in conference play), and a high basketball I.Q. It remains to be seen how far the Hawkeyes can go with him as the primary PG. I would expect next year he slides over to the two guard when Coach Fran's son arrives on campus.I have been in this young man's court all year and will be. Get on board or get run over.
Not only did they closeout the game but they battled back from being down 7 in the last 10 minutes of the game. Michigan was on a run and Coach Fran called a time out and the team regrouped and went on a 7-0 or 9-0 run to get back in the game. That is huge.We went 0 for from 3 against Purdue so first game jitters for JOBO today he proved he can make the 2, and make big shots which we have been lacking for 10 years.
We have a team that can close out games and they are freshman!!!!

I feel that Bohannon's supposed deficiency of quickness/inability to get into the lane is overblown quite a bit. He doesn't blow by defenders, but has shown an ability to get into the lane, and we saw a nice layup and a floater today. By comparison, 4* PG, and another guy we were after last year that would have fit the "Quick, penetrating PG" in Xavier Simpson didn't do a whole lot for Michigan today. I'd take Bohannon over Simpson all day.I happen to think that the jury is still out on Mr. Bohannon. He lacks elite handles and quickness, which inhibits his ability to go north/south efficiently. He's got a high Basketball IQ. That will help him overcome a lot of deficiencies.I feel that Bohannon's supposed deficiency of quickness/inability to get into the lane is overblown quite a bit. Also, why do you think that Conner would force Jordan to the off guard? (I haven't seen Connor play, so I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you) I thought that Connor's game and athleticism resembled Jordan's quite a bit.
I'm right here. He'll have his ups and downs. He's a 2G that might end up being a serviceable PG. Doesn't change my opinion AT ALL! He is not now and likely will never be a top tier BIG PG. So don't act like he didn't shit the bed at Purdue. Go smoke a Cyclown pole.
If he plays like that the rest of the BIG season, I'll come back and eat my crow. No problem. The next time he shits the bed again, I'll come right back here like a petty little bitch and call you out, in kind.
Well in fairness, you did call Scout out with a thread specifically labeled with his handle in it. What type of response did you think you were going to get from him?Go ahead ... glad to eat it ... but sorry you cannot take it.

Just like Cal Ripken had a high baseball I.Q. and that helped him overcome his lack of physical range at shortstop. He's got a high Basketball IQ. That will help him overcome a lot of deficiencies.
But I'm not wrong. He got abused at Purdue.I'm not looking, or opening anything up, but I've got a good idea who you are conversing with. Today would have been a good day for him to own up and say, "I've been wrong." But I'll bet without looking that isn't what is being said.
So in effect, Fran just beat Michigan AND his strategy and recruiting just beat the snot out of a couch coach who won't admit defeat.![]()
Take what? He had an awful game and a good game. What's to take? What am I supposed to take away from this? Peter Jok takes a lot of defensive attention, each and every game. That provides the other guards on the team a lot more breathing room than they will get after Pete is gone. You can keep calling me out if you want. If I occupy enough space in your brain, maybe some basketball IQ might leak in. Who knows?Go ahead ... glad to eat it ... but sorry you cannot take it.

I think we'll start a back court of Bohannon, McCaffrey and Moss. Not sure who would be the official 3. Probably Moss.Totally agree that Jok draws a lot of attention. It's nice to have a couple of guys that can knock down looks because of that. Moss is the guy that will be our starting 2 next year assuming he's back. He can shoot the 3 but can also drive/slash to attack the basket. Will he be Jok senior level next year? Probably not but he will be on that path.
We will also be much stronger inside with the addition of Garza & Nunge along with Kreiner if he returns. Add that to Cook & Pemsl. At the 4 & 5 we could put a lot of pressure on teams to sag in some to double. That's going to leave JBo & Moss open at times. JBo is the type of kid that can make teams pay. Moss is supposed to be a streak 3 point shooter making a number in practice. We've seen him make a few this year but with Joks absence he will get more opportunities.
The big question is who plays the 3? Number one question for next year besides who is transferring out due to lack of PT or role.
Obviously, you know very little about BB. Bohannon has some strengths and some weaknesses if you want to do an honest assessment of him in relation to the PG position. His strengths play more to the 2 than they do to PG. Bottom line, the kid is a competitor. This was probably his fifth solid game so far this season and he picked a great time to have it.cannot wait to here more insight from ScottRefugee on how bad Bohannen is and Fran has no point guard.....

You seem kind of his mirror image.People weren't using their brains before the season started i was all for bohannon figured he would be a Jeff Horner type player and we always need a PG that could shoot the 3!!! Well we got one also he has major balls i swear he plays like a junior.
I like scoutrefugee as a poster though, andoboy is the worst by far and an idiot.
So what if Pemsl, Moss, and Cook are never anointed first team all B1G?I hope I am wrong. I'll eat crow when he delivers our first BIG title since 1979. Our he is named 1st team ALL BIG. Barring either of those 2 becoming reality, I'll go to my grave thinking we should have signed a better PG.
I put more emphasis on the PG spot. College basketball is a guard driven league. If Cook decides to play defense every game, like he did today, he'll be an All BIG 4. Moss might get there. He's got skills. So what if Pemsl, Moss, and Cook are never anointed first team all B1G?
This thread is bordering the reason why I don't visit message boards very often, and equally why I don't post outside of the lounge.I hope I am wrong. I certainly agree about JB playing better than Williams- actually surprised by that compared to how I thought it would go prior to the season. The lineup without JB or Williams surprised me with how well it worked. I'd be ready to go with that rather than Williams. But I do think JB was athletically intimidated for a good stretch of the game. He finally arrived and was instrumental in the win.The pessimism about Bohannon is crazy. He continues to improve at getting inside the defense. He's a great shooter, who made big 3s and big free throws at crunch time. He's learning to play better defense and his trend line is clearly up. Great game today.
How many times to Crispin point out Bohannon's eyes probing the defense on his way up court? Bohannon is a real point guard with what looks to be a very good shot. Big long term upside.
Also, notice how much better the whole team plays when Bohannon's on the court relative to Williams minutes? Really would like to see how the teams plays with Dailey at the point in instead of Williams.
