Where is ScottRefugee and his no PG mantra

I feel that Bohannon's supposed deficiency of quickness/inability to get into the lane is overblown quite a bit. He doesn't blow by defenders, but has shown an ability to get into the lane, and we saw a nice layup and a floater today. By comparison, 4* PG, and another guy we were after last year that would have fit the "Quick, penetrating PG" in Xavier Simpson didn't do a whole lot for Michigan today. I'd take Bohannon over Simpson all day.

Also, why do you think that Conner would force Jordan to the off guard? (I haven't seen Connor play, so I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you) I thought that Connor's game and athleticism resembled Jordan's quite a bit.

If anything I think CM playing PG (which is where it sounds like he will play) will allow Williams to slide over to the 2/3.

Good point. I would think that to be the most likely scenario as well... Especially with Jok gone next year, and Uhl the year after, we need to develop some depth at the 3

I like Bohannon. Don't know why anyone would be opposed to getting another PG on the team with some quicks to complement him. Connor seems like a another bigger guard, slower..will get taken off the dribble. There is a logjam at 4-5 position in numbers, not a lot of guards if you consider CW looks like he might be a miss and Jok is graduating and Baer has trouble guarding the 3.

Just speaking for me, I wouldn't be opposed to it. Especially if I'm right that Williams back is a bigger issue than we know. Anybody out there heard if McCaffery has said anything yet about Williams?

For the short term, this year, if Williams is walking wounded than we're lucky to have a system which allows multiple ball handlers.

And.

We just might start seeing a little more of Dailey as well.

I certainly agree about JB playing better than Williams- actually surprised by that compared to how I thought it would go prior to the season. The lineup without JB or Williams surprised me with how well it worked. I'd be ready to go with that rather than Williams. But I do think JB was athletically intimidated for a good stretch of the game. He finally arrived and was instrumental in the win.

I'd like to see what Dailey could do in there using up some of Williams and Uhl's minutes. I think that may be what Sleeping Dog might agree with. We need more speed and shooting ability out of that guard spot. Maishe could play the point and may very well give us an advantage by using him more.

LOL.

Huh? English please but I'm done replying to stupid your just bitter because you have been wrong about everything this season. Take a xanax and enjoy the season it's a good thing you are bad at predicting.

I never predicted anything with Bohannon but he has exceeded my expectations.. I knew this team would have extreme ups and downs with ability to beat anyone and lose to anyone and wouldn't likely make the tourney. Basically Jon Miller's take

I was just calling you out for trashing everyone and beating your chest. And you kept doing it over and over and in multiple threads. It was kilroyesque.

I hope I am wrong. I'll eat crow when he delivers our first BIG title since 1979. Our he is named 1st team ALL BIG. Barring either of those 2 becoming reality, I'll go to my grave thinking we should have signed a better PG.

Seems like a realistic bar to set

With Williams' injury, I too am thinking Maishe might get more minutes. However, I was impressed by the PG by committee stretch we had where Jok was more of a lead guard. It put the ball in his hands more during an important period of the game and seemed to throw off the MI D a bit as well as giving length to our own D. Ellingson also impressed me then as a handler.

8 different BIG teams have won BIG titles in the past 25 years. Why is wanting a BIG title unrealistic? It wasn't unrealistic for 8 other teams.
Because we are the Iowa Hawkeyes and we can only dream of reaching such heights.

I know. I want to punch some people in the fat mouths sometimes! People that don't expect to win a BIG title need to shoot themselves. They have no competitive fire. We haven't won a BIG title since 1979! It's way past time to EXPECT one.

Yeah I was thinking to myself is Jordan really that much slower than Gesell? Yet we think the best part of MG's game was his D. Jordan can get there, and close a game with his shot.

Jbo is smaller slower and less athletic than Gesell. But hes allot more naturaly talented scoring the ball.

JBO has alot of the elments MG was missing. Jump shot is obvious but he can hit floaters, runners and quick scoops in the lane where MG would always try to go all the way to hoop.

You have to figure out different ways to score when you're short.

I don't know about JB being slower than MG. I actually think JB is a little quicker. MG had much better hops and was stronger. That allowed him to get to the hoop.

I think Jok did a respectable job. He is a decent passer with good vision and he draws a lot of attention away from the other guys. Some people laughed at me last year when I suggested he could sub at point, but Fran has said he would be our 3rd option at point. My only concern is that it requires even more energy of him and he is not a high stamina guy.

It's not a unrealistic bar to set for the TEAM.

It's moronic to set that as your bar for Bohannon....by that standard BJ Armstrong wasn't a successful PG.
Tom Davis was an awful coach to not win a BIG title with that team. So, I'll leave it to you to decide if Bohannon needs to be replaced or Fran does, when neither of them deliver a BIG title in the next 4 years.
