White House hangs giant pride flag…

It’s unbelievable to me that we have leaders in our country and those in the media who feel minors should be allowed to get sex changes. You can’t get a license until you are 16, vote until you are 18, or drink until 21. The law says you cannot even consent to sex as a minor. However, we have people who believe minors should be allowed to seek out and have sex changes and get hormonal treatment? There is so much that is wrong with this.
I think they should receive medical advice that addresses their situation, don’t you

To my mind, the current white house display is patriotism.

There’s always this implicitly narrow, right-wingy, we-get-to-define-patriotism tone to shit statements like this derpy doc.

It’s always implicit we-own-the defining-of-patriotism.

Which is, of course, a supremacist mindset. An, I-know-what’s-best, mindset. That’s what’s underneath all the hate. Hate of diversity, of DEI stuff, of insisting that USA is the best. It’s what makes siren songs of “liberal indoctrination” pervasive in insert-institution-here simply too delicious. Underneath it all is a deeply (insecurity-fueled) belief in supremacy.
It’s just a simpleton’s view of patriotism. All about symbols and performative BS, instead of truly understanding the deeper meaning behind it.

Guy like Marshall gets bent out of shape over a pride flag, a couple days after posting this:

This is not very considerate of underdeveloped minds who have a large part of their identity wrapped up in being patriotic about America and its flag because they had often rocky relationships with their dads who lived with untreated PTSD for decades after serving in wars that affected everyone and honoring the troops is how they can pretend they were raised in a healthy way. Shame on Biden for overlooking this
thats a long ass sentence.

Of course. But what I’m saying is the underlying ethos that has people sort of acting like there’s one patriotism and it is their patriotism is one of supremacy.

Like, it would never occur to me to even suggest that my idea of patriotism is the one everyone should have, or quickly and without question adopt (or GTFO).

DO NOT DISRESPECT THE FLAG!!!!!

Yeah, those top three pics, well maybe not the dry Trumping, are examples of actual violations of 4 USC.. so's this...

I'm not 100% sure on how it works now, but wasn't the Pentagon actually paying for these displays at NFL games for a brief period of time as part of recruiting budget? I think that was discontinued or scaled back. But when that started, did all of those displays adhere to flag code?

So, a couple of things...

It's kind of hard to determine, because of 2 US flags, but it's not technically violating flag code. It's kind of hard to define the "where" it's being displayed, is it a corridor? A window? Off a balcony? It's not being displayed off a staff, so it should be hung vertically, with the union to the upper left (to the observers), and should be hung to the observers left if multiple flags are being displayed

4 USC Chap 1 Sect 7

And...why do these f*** heads ignore every violation of 4 USC that their side does. Driving down the highway in a truck with a giant flag mounted in the bed, Trump's face emblazoned on a flag, thin blue line flag, the display of the flag before kickoff (horizontal over the field).

If you're in the Cult of MAGA, get the f*** out of here with complaints about the flag code.
I believe you’re correct.

I also think it’s pretty bizarre to hang the flags like that…

Oh well…

I was being roundabout and not very direct, my bad bill. I'm just making the point that I don't care what veterans think about the flag. If I wanted to care about how veterans feel about the flag to think about how maybe I should view the flag, then I'm never going to make any coherent sense of it because there's not a consensus among veterans and even if there was it wouldn't necessarily be right then anyway because our veterans aren't God. And I think that's true for everyone however they want to approach their own veneration of the flag, but there's a really annoying habit certain self-described patriots have of trying to guilt others into worshipping the flag because people (including people close to them) have died in wars our country fought in. Well, that's sad. Many of them were heroes. Many of them were poor unlucky bastards. But if they truly were fighting for something noble, I sure as shit hope it wasn't the future of flag decorum.
That rainbow thing isn’t a real flag so I could care less where they hang that piece of garbage.

Oh, yeah, it's not something you see a lot. I just can't see that it's a violation.

FTR, there are a lot of people, including federal employees and US military members that don't have enough a clue what are actual violations and what aren't. And TBF, it's not like it's enforced. I really don't have a problem with most thing unless I hear someone bitching about "disrespecting the flag". Then I point out what they are doing is a violation of US Code.

Yeah, I don't remember the details, but it had to do with both these displays and players being on the field for the National Anthem. It came out of the recruiting budget.

Is Violating the Flag Code Illegal?

No. While the U.S. Flag Code is a federal law, guidelines are only stated within the voluntary and non-binding language such as, "should" and "custom," meaning there is no penalty for violating any of its provisions. This is because of the Supreme Court's act in declaring the law unconstitutional in United States v. Eichman.

Seems like a get out the vote pandering scheme to me. The whole pride/LBGTQ movement is so tired and played out it’s ridiculous,
How does the maga rally thingy compare? Yo, go flag. Since well before ‘16…
