We love the hawks, all of them, but who is "your" guy? Who is the guy that when they succeed you are even more pumped? Maybe one of the Freshmen because your thrilled about the future of x, or Wads because you love the electricity? Josey? Bower? Neiman? It's a bye week fellas just something to kick around. For my picks I will take....

Josh Jackson: He seems to read the game at a higher level. I think he is becoming our shutdown corner and think we can build and build upon DB at Iowa.

Brandon Smith: Every time the ball is passed this guys way I stand up. I get that he has been lackluster so far but I think that fumble and kind of humble beginning will keep him focused for 4 years and we could end up with 2-3 STUDS.

Alright fellas do your worst.
(Clonewithasigh you can play too since you seem like a good dude.)

This can't be true because he was targeted against Illinois on the fake reverse that was incomplete.

It's not I think he has 4 targets. That one against I'll. got tipped and I feel like he was missed against someone earlier, maybe ntexas. He has been on the field a little though and I watch him specifically. He blocks alright for being a young guy and that will get him on the field.

Hooker....and maybe stone....soon.

I'll go with Miguel Recinos. Not sure about the "my guy" label but PKs are never fully appreciated IMO and I tend to drift towards those type of players.

.....and you have to give Recinos his due because he was beat-out by Duncan last year but he re-dedicated himself during the off-season and won the job back this Fall. Very strong leg and has been accurate also. I believe that Miguel has the confidence of the coaches if he is called upon a game winner. I'm pulling for him.

Shrug - there are a bunch of players that I feel have potential to generate an exciting highlight on any given play. I like 'em all.

The only time he steps onto the field is quite literally to run block exclusively. Seriously, whenever I see him out wide I know it’s a run

The ability to block is a must for this coaching staff, for a WR to be on the field as a FR means they want to get him involved. I think you will see his role increase more and more. That fumble wasn't good but the coaches didn't bury him. Hearing the way Brian talks, he wants to add some octane to this O.

Nick Easley. I started a thread just before the season calling him the X-Factor and was basically scoffed at. He has nearly twice the catches of any other player (Easley 27, Wadley 15, MVB 15), and leads the team in receiving TD.

Not bad for a juco walkon.

My guy is Wadley and has been since he stepped on campus. Several years ago when he was riding a lot of pine behind the Hebrew Hammer, I knew we had one of the most talented RBs to ever put on a Hawkeye uniform.

ISM will replace Wadley as 'my guy' next year. Athletic freaks.

I always root for guys who come back their Senior year- So this year I am going with Wadley

Future guys for me: Alaric Jackson, Amani Jones, Hankins, Smith-Marsette, Wirfs, AJE, Fant and or Hock, Jackson, and Stanley

Also in consideration- Hooker, Stone, Brandon Smith, Reiff, Latt

While AJ would be an obvious choice, I'll take Wirfs. Thought he played exceptionally well for his first start, just a few games into his true freshman year. First true freshman to EVER start at tackle in KF's tenure. Sky's the limit for this massive athlete. Should be a solid all BIG candidate in a couple of years, and probably an AA as well.

Thats what we like to call hindsight bias-aka I knew it all along

If I have to say one guy it's AJ Epenesa. I'm always watching, and hoping to see the best from everyone though. I have a couple others that it just makes my day to see shine, and they are:

Offense: Nick Easley
Defense: AJ and Brandon Snyder
Special Teams: Miguel Recinos

My posting history backs it up.

It doesn't take a genius to see that Wadley is ultratalented. All you have to see is one jump cut. I saw it in his high school tape and in person in his first spring game. No Iowa RB has ever been able to do that and very few NFL backs can either... Only one comes to mind - Shady McCoy - and he's about as good as it gets.

Nick Easley. I think the last guy from Newton to score a touchdown for the Hawks was probably Gary Simpson in the 60’s, 50 yrs ago. Being from Newton I am proud of that guy. He seems to get open and Nate likes to throw to him.

Easley get my vote, too, since Newton is my home town.

But if I had two votes, Nathan Stanley gets the other one. I know that there is a vigorous debate about his deep ball, but I think that he is going to be scary good. NFL caliber good.

You could take the stance that if stanley was throwing those balls to guys with NFL speed he would be on the money and may have to change back again if/when he gets to the nfl.

I posted Wadley's high school video after he committed and said how good I thought he was going to be. Every once in a while people can be correct on these types of things.
I understand that, but what you explained is exactly what hindsight bias. I look at a bunch of HS highlight videos and get excited, however; only focus on the ones I am correct on......hence the term hindsight bias.

I like Toren Young quite a bit. He's runs with a nasty streak and delivers blows behind his pads. Has good enough speed to get the job done.

Kelly-Martin is Wadley-light. Don't think he quite has Akrum's athletiscism but he's going to be very, very good.

RB is as deep as ever right now.

Dude...............127 Football coaches missed on that ultratalented jump cut.....I am not saying you are wrong. However, this exact situation you are explaining is exactly what hindsight bias is....nothing wrong with it or it isn't bad, it just is what it is
