Who thinks fran should return as coach next year?

I think Fran should stay, I'm excited with the new recruits coming in. If he can get 2 strong guards that can defend and hit some 3's, we should have a solid team. Since no one else responded in the affirmative, I had to respond.

I agree that his NCAA tournament record is poor. I agree that his defenses have been poor. I'm hopeful that his new recruits can change the script and play better defense. I've also seen this same mid season slump and he has usually found a way to win and make the final season record respectable.

I have to give you credit for posting despite knowing you are going to get tons of crap for it.

Iowa Sports = .500+ and making any sort of postseason [even if its a minor bowl game in FB or the NIT in BB, some years] is as good as its ever gonna get. And that's perfectly OK for some, if not most, in Hawkeye Nation.

I'm personally sick & tired of "being just OK is better than good enough".

Its puke-inducing dealing with Iowa sports like we are, while watching the Clowns somewhat challenging for their conference title & the playoffs in FB and are in the process of being an annual Top 5/10 & Sweet 16+ squad in MBB. Even Drake's MBB program is a few levels above Iowa's current place, and they are in the first year of a new hire with lower division transfers!

Saddest thing - or not, whatever - is after years of mostly mediocrity in both sports, my apathy continues building and flourishing.

40 combined years of "we're just little ol' Iowa" / "we're not sexy" / "just gotta fix some things" / "we won __ games last year, not sure if you know that".

You realize the ISU football program that you are drooling over is 2-6 vs Iowa under their present coach, correct?

Drake's bball program is "a few levels above Iowa?" You can't possibly believe that. You honestly think Drake would beat Iowa? I can guarantee you they would not be favored.

Fans think they're so clever referring to KF's "10 wins last year" quote. It seems most of them don't even know that KF was answering a question asked by the media that, in part, asked about performance in the previous season (2021). Not surprising

I mean...I just don't get the point of following a team where the ceiling is making "the final season record respectable." I just don't understand why you would waste time and resources being a fan of that. But the fact remains that lots and lots of our fans are perfectly content to do just that.
