Who To Cheer For This Weekend

If you are aiming for the Rose Bowl I agree. If you are aiming for the playoff then there are a million reasons to cheer for MSU.

The primary one being, MSU loses, beats OSU, Iowa faces a one loss team in B1G Championship, but since it isn't an undefeated OSU, it loses it's luster and an undefeated Iowa team is left out of the College Football Playoff.

In the case above it would be much better to face an undefeated MSU team in Indy.

Michigan State loses to Nebraska but beats OSU? Yeah right. Huskers over Sparty is good for Hawkeyes when considering the most likely ways this season plays out.

We def want FSU to beat Clemson.

This is Clemson's hardest remaining game before their CCG.
FSU still has to play @ Florida.

And, regardless, an undefeated B1G team will undoubtedly make the playoff over a 1-loss ACC team.

Can't root for Nebraska. Can't do it. Won't do it.

Only time I want Nebraska to win is when they play the SEC.

Teams we are cheering for are in bold.

Clemson / Florida State - 2:30PM ABC

LSU / Alabama - 7:00PM CBS

Ohio State / Minnesota - 7:00PM ABC

Notre Dame / Pitt - 11:00AM ABC

Baylor / Kansas State - 6:30PM FS1

MSU / Nebby - 6:00PM ESPN

TCU / Oklahoma State - 2:30PM Fox

Florida / Vandy - 11:00AM ESPN

Stanford / Colorado - 12:00PM Pac12

If we lose to Ohio State in the CCG and MSU only has one loss, people are going to go nuts when we do NOT get the Rose Bowl bid (cause we won't).

I do not see Nebby beating MSU, but we absolutely should be rooting for Sparty to lose again. Our current bowl projection is typically v. Memphis in the Peach Bowl. If Sparty loses again and we make the CCG and lose, we can still get the Rose Bowl v. Stanford/Utah etc.

That is IF MSU loses though. The Memphis matchup is a HUGE let down if we make the CCG.

Agree. Highly likely that the Gators will beat FSU, whereas Clemson is home free if they win this week. On the other hand, in that scenario we would have to worry about Florida piling up quality wins....

And all of the hand wringing about a 2-loss Ole Miss sneaking into the playoff over us can stop, they would lose again in the title game to Florida anyway. Plus they won't beat LSU in the 1st place.

I'm not sold on Colorado over Stanford.

Obviously it completely clears Stanford as an obstacle if they lose. However, we're already ahead of Stanford in the CFP rankings... I don't see that them winning out (including wins over Notre Dame and Utah) will be enough to overcome us winning out (including a win over OSU or MSU). Of all the teams that could steal a spot from us, I think we have bigger worries (like ND).

While boosting NW's resume may not be a huge help to us, it may be more useful than ensuring Stanford is out of the picture.

You're particularly correct about ND. That one worries me a lot.
