Who's ready to give up beef?

The key to all of this is moderation. There’s no need to give up all beef. I like steak and an occasional burger, I have one maybe a couple times a month. For the most part though, I’m eating chicken or pork (mostly loin) when meals call for meat because it’s healthier and I actually like it. I also work out like a fiend. Hundreds of miles a month between biking, running, hiking, etc.

That moderation + lifestyle means I’ve found a compromise in my personal health vs. enjoyment in food and from a climate perspective, there aren’t many cow farts or acres of corn required to feed my needs.

I can sleep at night with my choices and how they impact both fronts.

Now all we need is another bird flu on top of this and we'll be in a food crisis.

This is what happens when agenda trumps real science and rational thought.
You know this comes from a very biased source. I highly doubt Ireland will be slaughtering 200,000 cows. The Irish like their meat as well.

Is chicken bad for the environment? I've been eating more chicken.

How about Pork; or Tuna?
I think it has more to do with methane emission. The USA is an exporter of meat. We do a damn good job at it. Unfortunately, like with the state of Iowa, some sacrifices are made for profit. I love meat so I am willing to put up with it. I just wish we could figure out a more environmentally friendly way. I think we all do.

The NIH is also not always right. This is one of my biggest complaints about research. It is only as good as the people conducting it. It is very easy to push a specific agenda with research. It is impossible to factor in every detail when doing research. So what happens is you get research about a specific item that ignores the overall picture.

The predators are coming back to Iowa. Cougars and black bears.
Yet, you do your own research and believe it is correct.

Thats deceiving. There are people like me who eat none, so for the people that eat beef, its higher than that.

Excellent point. This means if more people like you would quit eating beef, that'll leave more for me!

I am presently in a hospital. They served me a slab of roast beef for lunch. Now how could the medical people here make such a major mistake and allow me to have beef.
The medical experts on HROT better advise them.

Not sure we have a choice if we want any real future.
Then I don't want a "real" future. It's a good thing you aren't climate brain washed. J Kerry and Gore are laughing and burning C notes in their fireplaces thanks to lemmings like you.

He might have a friend named Taco, you never know!

Your mom is “Bearded Taco” in my contacts list, for example.
Moar like bearded gordita. But whatevs, Torbs. I already know she absolutely does NOT like white dudes in cargo shorts, so I suspect either you rebrand yourself on your way to her spot, or you're totally lying about her being in your contacts.

It won’t happen in my lifetime.

California would first have to outlaw meat. They don’t even have the guts so you can forget about the rest of the planet.

Maybe we should start by auditing everybody’s life in terms of cars, travel, house(s), etc. my guess is most are doing far more damage with those items vs a hamburger.

We currently allow people to travel via planes and boats for no reason except pleasure. Think of all the carbon used on planes and cruise ships and all the concrete and infrastructure built to support them. Any you want to deny people a hamburger. Lol.

The rich will just travel to a place and eat meat away from the laws.
This has been my argument for a long time. Currently across the planet, how many natural gas fireplaces and fire pits are burning every second of the day, at an uncountable number of upscale restaurants and hotels. How many cruise ships are sailing the ocean at any given time? How many yachts, pleasure boats, jet skis, recreational vehicles are being operated every second of every day. How many unnecessary flights take place every day. All for our recreation and pleasure.

What’s the carbon footprint of NASCAR and everything associated with racing down to the Saturday night races in Knoxville? Boat races, airplane shows, vacations, etc. All for our recreation and pleasure. Look at a satellite picture Los Angeles or NYC at 2am. Turn a freaking light off, would ya? My point is, not one word about any of this. We waste so much freaking energy every second of everyday. There is no effort being made to end this waste. We might want to fix climate change, but we sure do enjoy our recreation and pleasure items.

I might consider cutting down the amount of beef I eat when elites on the climate change side give up some of their recreation and pleasure items. John Kerry can preach to us all he wants, but until he changes his carbon footprint, is it really an urgent crisis?

I believe our climate is changing and our future generations might very well be in a world of hurt. I believe we need to do more than we are doing currently. I don’t believe we should make policy based on this fear that will have significant impact to sectors of the economy. We will do more harm than good.

Sorry, most of us don't pray at the alter of climate change. I'm simply tired of the government telling us what stoves we can cook on, what furnaces we can heat our homes with, what foods we can eat, what cars we can drive, and somehow they believe they can control our every action and eliminate any freedom we enjoy by simply spewing the phrase climate change. The government doesn't care if you can't afford a new furnace or car or what all of this will cost the country, just shut up and do as you are told. Yet, China is building a new coal fired power plant everyday and that's fine. Sorry, I'm not playing that game.............................

Weird how it doesn't stop John Kerry from flying all over the world in his private jet, or Al Gore from heating and cooling his 10' mansion, of Bernie from owning three homes.

“Grandson, sorry I didn’t take this more seriously. I was, you know, waiting for the ‘elites’ to make the first move.”
That's rich, from the leftist party who is spending the country into oblivion is now worried about our grandchildren. :D :D

Most people are reasonable. You are either trolling or not bright.

I would not allow you to vote. You could not pass a 6th grade civics exam

Funny how you can't dispute a single thing I said so you just dismiss my entire post. You are the perfect non thinking, just follow your orders type person that the democrat party survives on.

Waiting for those telling me to make the first move, to make the first move. I won’t apologize for that.

There is no point in wasting my energy trying to argue with a moron who basically was aborted by his mom with a wire hanger but walked off somehow.

It's possible that Abby is brilliant in some weird STEM niche and we just think he's an oaf because he's dyslexic or otherwise struggles with language. But not likely.

I moved to a small house under 1000 sq ft close to where I work so I can walk a lot of the time. I just work incrementally at lowering my carbon footprint.

That's nice. I live in a house way bigger than I need and drive two large SUVs. Different strokes, right?

1000 sq feet is all what you can afford with government housing. I take it you walk to a lot of your antifa protests.
