Why do Anthony Fauci, Liz Cheney, and Adam Shiff need preemptive Pardons?

I think you have it backwards. Trump didn't file it as an election expense, he filed it as a personal expense. They claimed the money was used to sway the election so it should have been reported as an election expense.

I think your mistake proves that this lawsuit was a joke because it could have applied no matter how the hush money was filed.

You have it incorrect,.. Trump paid the funds out of his business account(s) and then claimed it as a business expense,.. Prosecution claimed that this was a tax violation, and a possible campaign violation,.. Jury's choice.

No,.. Edwards actually used campaign funds to pay off his woman,.. Trump at least paid his woman out of Trump funds.

No, the NDA was paid out of Trump business account(s),.. Prosecution argued that it one possible conviction angle was that it should have been looked upon as a federal campaign donation,.. Jury never had to identify how they arrived at their decision.
Do you believe he paid the hush money to help his chances in the election?

As I recall, Edwards used campaign funds and then tried to hide it in the books...
He asked his friends pay the woman and failed to report the transactions as campaign donations/expenditures.

I swear you couldn't make this up if you even tried...

Trump makes call to Ukraine about investigating Hunter Biden. Adam Schiff gets Trump impeached while Trump was warning the country about COVID. Russia goes to war with Ukraine and Biden sends Billion in aide to them. Then Hunter gets charged for taxes dealing with Ukraine. Hunter is guilty of tax charges. Joe pardons Hunter and is now looking to pardon Schiff for thing unknown. What in the hell is going on? This stinks of sh*t and scandles.

Reimbursed "friend" with Trump business funds and then claimed that as a business expense,.. Who the phuck, other than John Edwards, would ever pay off their girlfriend and then try to claim it as a campaign expense?

Trump two months after the impeachment,

…when you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that’s a pretty good job we’ve done.

Edwards didn’t claim it as a campaign expense. He tried to claim that it wasn’t one.

He mentioned it in Jan of 2020 and was called a Xenophobe

No, he had his friends pay her off the books.

You are correct,.. Edwards associates paid the woman, and the prosecution argued that the payment constituted an unrecorded campaign contribution,... Case was dropped.

It was dropped after a jury couldn’t return a verdict in the first trial. The judge refused to dismiss the case.

Documents case speaks for itself. Trump was dumb enough not to return documents. Didn't have a right to them. Never should have been a case here but he was a moron.

Crossfire hurricane was investigated and found to be legit. (turned up plenty of suspicious items and convictions)

The election case was rather obviously going to merit an investigation. (between the attack on the capitol and the false electors)
Whatever you need to do to convince yourself is alright by me. Still doesn’t make it any more credible. These were nothing more than bullshit lawfare cases.

The documents case had some merit but wouldn’t have been brought against anyone other than Trump.

So lets pretend they are the same.

Edwards case is dropped and Trump deserves 34 felonies for it? Does that make sense to you?
Just more evidence that dems threw everything they could at Trump hoping something would stick.

to be fair, edwards case was dropped after it went to one trial, which resulted in him being found not guilty of 1 count and a mistrial on 5 others

the dropped it because they didn't want to RETRY him on the 5 charges without a verdict on the first trial

I guess they learned their lesson for Trump and that is why they did not make the jury agree on which misdemeanor he committed so they could charge him for a felony. They simply had to agree it happened.

the fact that you think there's a "they" that applies to cases in 2 different states, 10+ years apart is precisely why we disagree on this issue

Edwards is a scumbag who used his dying wife as an excuse. He knew exactly what he was doing. He should have been convicted.

As I said,... read your link.

Cohen paid Stormy & Trump paid Cohen out of Trump business funds..
Which is why I provided the link, wanted to correct myself. This was tied to his campaign.

Would it help if I said I agreed that Edwards should have been convicted as well? Both clearly made hush money payments to benefit their election campaigns.

The lack of agreeing on a misdemeanor could win trump an appeal (if it gets to that).

Please, nobody remind @Colonoscopy that hurr declared biden too retarded to stand trial for his theft of classified documents btw

I don't hold it against you for making a mistake.

I think it's a stupid lawsuit. Hush money payments are not necessarily related to winning an election. so what ties the payment to the election?

If a candidate gets plastic surgery on their face, is that an election finance?

If a person mentions hush money, a normal person doesn't automatically think election.

There is obviously some gray area here, but I don't buy the argument. I think they would also have a valid lawsuit if trump put hush money under campaign finances. How would democrats have responded to that if they knew Trump paid a woman off with campaign money.

Candidates getting exposed for having affairs has torpedoed campaigns far more often than not. - see Edwards as discussed. It’s not a stretch at all here to argue that this hush money payment was made to benefit his election.

NY prosecutor successfully sold that argument to a jury. NC prosecutor failed and chose not to try again.

We don't actually know that, since the NY jury didn't have to disclose how they arrived at Trumps guilt,.. Prosecutor provided multiple paths and basically asked the jury to use anything that appeared to apply.

He was charged and found guilty on 34 counts. I think it’s safe to say the jury believed the prosecutor.

Do you think Trump would have been prosecuted if dems found he made a hush money payment from campaign finances?

I believe they would have charged Trump for innopropriate use of campaign finances or whatever the legal term would be.

Counterpoint: I think Rand Paul believes he has plenty of proof Fauci repeatedly lied to Congress and said so to his face.
I’m not sure too many other republicans have totally bought into Paul’s narrative on that. On the clips of those hearings that I recall Paul would point to one part of a memo or something and call that a smoking gun and then Fauci would offer some explanation, whether accurate, bureaucratic CYA talk or what, I don’t pretend to remember enough about them.

Paul tho has the problem that he really seemed fixated on Fauci as a villain in this whole thing to the point that it appeared like an obsession.

Personally, I don’t think Fauci did anything illegal. But I think there are people who badly want someone to blame for the pandemic, whether or not that’s truly the case.

I believe Trump committed a crime in this instance yes. I don’t believe this was a politically targeted prosecution. This is similar to the Edward’s case imo.

Of the various legal cases, it was probably the weakest.
