Why I can't wait to play (probably) Ohio State

We're in rarified air right now at 10-0. Everything is possible. We have a very real shot at the B1G championship. We have as good a shot as anybody at playing for the national championship.

And that's why these games are worrisome. It's not that I or any of you think we'll lose to Purdue or Nebraska, but a loss now would be crushing. The potential high of a win against those teams - while nice - doesn't compare to the possible low of losing to them after a run like this, those National Championship and Rose Bowl hopes fading away.

So, I say bring on the Buckeyes! The emotional stakes would be completely reversed. A win over them in the championship game would be un-effing-believable, while a loss would be unfortunate, but not crushing or embarrassing.

Anyone else feel the same? Can you all relate?

Game will be closer than what people think. Hawks run a lot of clock, OSU isn't nearly explosive as they should be especially if Jones is qb.

Their play-calling has taken a hit since they got that douche from Nebraska and let go of Herman. They still have the most talent of ANY team in the B1G.

Maybe we should, you know, like, actually get there first.......and stuff and junk.

But that's the thing, I would never (NEVER!!!) want to skip games. I love every minute. But I really look forward to games where the potential payoff for the game is at least as great as the potential let down.

If we beat Purdue and win the West, that is what I need to see. If we lose to Nebby I will be bummed, but we get a chance to win the championship. 12-0 would be utterly fantastic, but 11-1 and a chance to win the league ain't chopped liver. Let's win the next 2 and have some fun.

If Iowa beats Purdue tomorrow they are automatically in the B1G championship game regardless of what happens next week in Lincoln. I think at this point it's a pretty safe bet Iowa will be in the B1G championship game.

Ohio State is a sleeping giant, methinks. Who knows. Ohio State is the one team Iowa has always found a way to lose to. I remember the Rose Bowl season of 1990. Iowa had that game against Ohio State won. Oh, if only they had batted that pass down in the end zone instead of intercepting it. Ball would have been near midfield...ugh, never mind. It's time for Iowa to finally get Ohio State.

The Buckeyes have some freak athletes on defense...Our O versus their D is not an especially good matchup on paper, but a completely healthy CJ makes us dangerous

You never know how teams will match up. We have every chance to beat OSU if we get the chance.

I concur that Ohio State is a sleeping giant. Last year they seemed to gain steam at the end of the year (like this year), and then we all know what happened next.
But, as each week passes, I have more and more faith that this Iowa team is capable of even better things. And with a 10-0 record already, that's saying something.
Our offense can run on anyone, and I do mean anyone. Our defense has been bend but don't break the last few weeks, but plenty of time to right the ship in that area. But we still have playmakers there that can turn a game around (King, Meier, Jewell...) I really do think that we can beat Ohio State. I really do think that we can make some noise in the playoffs as well. Everyone likes the 100 point offenses that can score at will, but with dominant line play, running game and defense, you play and beat anyone.

Ohio State will play up to the situation. You'd see the best OSU team of the year in the B10 championship. I'd rather get either Michigan school.

It's clear to me that tOSU is beatable as they have appeared to be overrated all year, plus we're so tough on D and balanced as a team. I say Michigan beats them and gets the nod. As much as the Rudock storyline would be amazing and a UM matchup would be preferred, I'd still rather beat tOSU and then tell Herbstreit to go eff himself.

Iowa wins if they go plus 3 or 4 in turnovers, otherwise it could be a beatdown like the Buckeyes are going to put on Sparty and the Fighting Harbaughs. OSU has not played up to their potential all year, but I will be amazed if they don't win by 30+ tomorrow. Without Ott, Iowa's front 4 can't compete with OSU's front. As much as I hope and pray a miracle happens, I can't see it. If you have watched Ohio State play at all, there talent level is unbelievable-----they have just been playing down to their level of competition with Jones at the throttle. That probably changes starting tomorrow. Go Hawks!

No question about OSU's talent level. None at all. But a lot of iffy teams have played toe to toe with them this year. You saw them chew up Wisconsin last year 55-0 or whatever it was, they are capable of doing that to Iowa too. That's why they play the games and upsets happen all the time.

I think it was 59-0 and yes, that is what scares the crap out of me if we play them.

If I had to predict a score as neutrally as I could for an Iowa/OSU matchup, I'd guess it would be about 30-24, OSU wins. The tail risk would be something like 48-10, OSU wins, or on the other side maybe Hawks could beat them 31-20. So I agree, Iowa has a CHANCE against OSU, but I don't think Iowa would win more than 2-3 times out of 10.
