I follow Iowa football but not as close as some. How about Iowa go with a 50% run 50% pass on 1st down mix and have 100% of the passes on 1st down be play action? It seems like Wisconsin does this and it works for them. We need to be unpredictable.
We should have a a standard 1st down formation with 2 WR's, 2 TE, and an RB. We can motion the TE's and WR across the formation. I don't get while we ever go to a no backs in the backfield formation on 1st down.
If we are pinned deep by our goal line or start close to their goal line we can be flexible. For all other times I would suggest the above standard 1st down formation.
2nd & 3rd down can be driven by the result of 1st down.
What am I missing?
