Washpun is so effing quick
Maybe Fran could consider offering someone with that kind of raw athleticism at guard.

This. Congrats to UNI, but Texas a 6?
My recollection is yes they had a shot but iirc felt snubbed that he wasn't recruited by Iowa as much as he thought he should have been and chose Tennessee when Bruce Pearl was still head coach. He lasted maybe a year and transferred to UNI. (i think?). i could be wrong but that's my memory of his recruitment.
i don't think Iowa re-recruited him or had a shot after leaving Tennessee.

He committed to Cuanzo martin at SW Missouri state and when Martin took the UT job Washpun went with him.
He played with Ogelsby in highschool and wanted an Iowa offer bad and Ogelsby campaigned for him to get an offer for like a year. Fran wouldn't offer and instead chased a bunch of other players.
After all of them committed elsewhere Fran offered and everyone assumed he was coming to Iowa but at the last minute he announced for UT.
At the time no major coach wanted him and most Iowa fans didn't either. Pretty odd considering how athletic he is.
He does offer. Just can't land them for whatever reason. And I don't think anyone knows why he can't.Maybe Fran could consider offering someone with that kind of raw athleticism at guard.
This is a basketball board in case you had not noticed.
Wonder if Iowa offers Sapp if Wes comes here
UNI took the "directional" name by their own choosing. Iowa founded three state schools, Iowa State Teachers College (UNI), Iowa State College(ISU) and the State University of Iowa (Uof I). After changing and being State College of Iowa for a while, UNI decided to become a university. What could they use as a name that would not mix them up with the other two schools? So they chose "northern." UNI is not a true directional school as there is no other school with a direction in its name, like Illinois, Michigan, etc.have.That shot was for all of the aholes on this board that like to talk down to UNI as a "directional school"...suck it.![]()
Be sure and rail on all the ISU post as long as your in the whining mood.Iowa basketball.
Little brother syndrome from an Iowa that hasn't been to the Sweet 16 this century? Hmm. More like brother. Why I hope UNI does well but don't feel bad if the don't. The section of their fanbase that have little brother syndrome. Guess what you are a direction school/mid major. Doesn't mean you can't have success. Just enjoy it.
