"Brewer analyzed each program’s revenues and expenses and made cash-flow adjustments, risk assessments and growth projections to calculate what a college team would be worth on the open market, if it could be bought and sold like a professional franchise.

Overall, the value of Football Bowl Subdivision teams has dropped 1.8% on average from last year despite cash flows increasing 18% and revenues growing 9.6% year over year. The reasons for the drop were concerns about concussions and football’s safety, declining youth football participation, lack of resolution over pay-for-play concerns, and the scheduling of the College Football Playoff, which saw ratings for the semifinals fall by nearly 40% when played on New Year’s Eve this year, as opposed to New Year’s Day"

Someone has actually quantified the concussion issue. Interesting.

Finally, #11 Nebby can now talk smack on us...

IOWA will be ranked somewhere above #12 in the FINAL NCAA poll to be released soon.
How about your Nebby friends to the west? Where will they be?

Time to provide Mr Gary Barta with a BIG, BIG raise for his successes with
IOWA Football and Basketball. Hmmmmmmm..............

I'll guess #9, let me know if I win.

I'm going to buy the Iowa Football program with my powerball winnings. What to do with the other billion dollars...

Soon as Gary gives us the refund for the last 5 years of Iowa Football, and 10 years of Iowa Basketball (or however long good ol' Gary has been around).

Last 5 years of Hawkeye football include an Orange Bowl win and an undefeated season, along with several January Bowl games? Why don't you go talk to your Clone friends about the last 50 years?

Also more evidence of what Rutgers brought to the table to the Big Ten...map of power 5 schools is listed below. Without politics involved within the states (could you get a school like Oklahoma without Okie State etc...) there had to be a better choice out there.

My preference would have been for Big10 to get Texas Christian University in Ft Worth.
From the Football and Basketball perspective, would have garnered much more, imho.

Seems like Pittsburgh or Syracuse would have been more qualified East Coast targets than Rutgers for the B1G. Both had better MBB and football programs. NYC/ NJ TV market is not much towards college football with NBC's boot licking of ND Iwish football and two pro NFL teams.

Nebraska football is in decline since the rise of TCU, Baylor, Texas Tech and now Houston. Nebraska in the Big 8 got a lot of Texas recruits and the expansion to the Big 12 with Texas schools started weakening the recruiting pipeline. Nebraska no longer belongs to a conference that guarantees them a 8 win football season. More real competition in the B1G. And then Nebraska's educational side seems to be the least impressive in the B1G. Nebraska should hope Warren Buffett leaves them a couple of billions.

May Notre Dame continue to suffer for its arrogance. I believe Missouri will regret joining the SEC.

It's now 2016, you know that right?

Off the subject a bit... but holy shit... Rutgers is a nightmare and seems now like there should have been a better option for that last entry.

OK............when was the Orange Bowl BCS victory? 2010??
Beat Missouri in Arizona bowl, after that one.
We played LSU in Outback, January 1. The TaxSlayer thingy.
Cannot keep track of all the Hawkeye bowls, I guess.

10- Orange bowl win vs GT
10- Insight Bowl win over Mizzou
11- Insight Bowl Loss to Oklahoma
14- Loss to LSU in Outback
15- Loss to Tennessee in TaxSlayer
16- Loss to Stanford in Rose.

4 l's in a row, doesn't make us look too good.

Let's put the OU and LSU games into perspective a little.

Iowa (7-6) vs. OU (10-3) was ranked #1 preseason and finished #15.
Iowa (8-5) vs. LSU (10-3) was ranked #12 preseason, finished #14, and ranked as high as #6 (weeks 4, 5, and 8).

Both those teams were loaded with talent and Iowa was in both of those games till the end.
