6 year old girl shot nd killed at home while mom is away preparing for the funeral of her 14 yeard old son who was shot and killed a week earlier.
DALLAS - Dallas police are investigating the deadly shooting of a 6-year-old girl on N Fitzhugh Avenue in Old East Dallas.
The girl was shot inside a townhome off Fuqua Street and Fitzhugh Avenue Wednesday evening.
The 6-year-old girl was with other juveniles inside the home where there was an unsecured gun, according to the Dallas Police Department.
Police have not yet said who shot the child or what happened. She was taken to a hospital where she died.
Markia Boyd lives in the same complex.
"I’m trying to not cry, actually; I’m not. I’m trying to hold it in. I’m shaking right now," she said.
The child’s aunt told FOX 4 that the child’s mother was not home at the time. Instead, she was at a funeral home planning services for her other son.
The family said 14-year-old Ah'bralen Rider was shot off Harry Hines Boulevard in Oak Lawn and died on New Year's Eve.
"It’s like I guess everything is a shock," Boyd said.
