If you bought any Chinese product (majority of goods today unfortunately) they soon fall apart because the Chinese aren’t interested in quality. They’re only interested in production, export, and jobs for their billion + workforce.

China isn’t really a player in the international aerospace market. You can’t get parts or updates from Russia since the war in the Ukraine began. Iran seems to have switched to the Bell because of all the recent accidents involving the Mi17.
So wouldn’t flying a 50 year old poorly equipped Helicopter into dense fog be considered poor judgement on the pilots part?

In that weather, freaking Air Wolf would be grounded. Short of the Bin Laden super secret modified Blackhawk, of which one crashed, I would have taken a skip on the old flight. I assume the pilot is dead because had he survived, he would have been made dead.
