CJ, what's the theory behind using 50/50 booking that WWE relies on. For the life of me I don't see how the positives outweigh the negatives.

Vince can't remember what happened the week before so it doesn't matter?

I mean, it works for house shows and on the indy circuit cause the shows are "one offs"... but we've been conditioned that the shows on TV are supposed to carry over from week to week and stories build...50/50 makes both wrestlers look weak and doesn't create any momentum for either...is the WWE still episodic television or is each show a self contained performance?

Well if the performers are telling a good story it doesn't matter who wins. But how u get there. 50/50 looks like lazy story telling to me.
Take Hangman for instance he's won a bunch of matches to get to Omega. Then Dark Order lost vs The Elite. Now fans are asking where does it go in a good way. Because they are infested. With the 50/50 I guess u want to give the impression of the 3rd match going either way. When to me we've already seen these guys go a couple times. And seen either potential outcome.

infested? lol great typo

Hangman is a great example. Back in the day, Tommy "Wildfire" Rich in Georgia Championship wrestling lost for weeks in a row to build his babyface heat...Mikey Whipwreck in ECW lost for an entire year and the pop when he finally won was Road Warrior level...

now I'm just happy when the wrestler has the same name from one week to the next...

Well pro wrestling fandom is a disease. I'm happy when I see something unique instead of a retread failed gimmick or poorly executed rip off/ hommage.

Kind of like Karrion Kross ... :)

I know money talks, but I really wish he would have stayed in MLW for a year after leaving IMPACT...
His long term earning potential is taking a dive. For the quick payday. These guys need to start thinking in terms of 5 to 10 year time frames. Not year to year. AJ Styles by staying overseas and away from the WWE made himself more money.

At this rate if the event even happens in front of a live crowd, that would be a win...same with some pretty big AEW shows upcoming...Punk's AEW debut may be a whimper if it's at the bar in Jacksonville with 300 fans.

Hopefully things start trending in the right direction in the next couple of weeks, but read the WWE is looking for a new Thunderdome home.

Goldberg still gets a pop. He does, not from us snarks, but I get why they bring him back. Prefer him to Nick Gage.
A pop for 4 seconds. Then silence. He has a place but not in the title picture.

Always remember Bobby having to avoid the lights in the Turner Studio when coming off the top rope. Dude was ahead of his time in terms of in ring performance. Watch some of those elevated scaffolding matches. Everyone else involved is scared to move. He's doing bumps on them. Totally fearless.

How long before NXT goes back to full on developmental brand. End of the year? Cole can't possibly want to stick around.

Lots of guys and gals gonna have to learn how to get themselves booked on the indies...ROH has a chance to move back into 3rd place if they play this right, but being ROH, they won't...

Curious to see what happens to someone like Cameron Grimes. The guy is hilarious. Totally see him being moved up to the main roster and end up jobing to Mase or T Bar.

I kinda get it, OVW, FCW pumped out future superstars...Brock, Cena, Batista, Orton, Reigns, Rollins, New Day. They have no one in the pipeline.

NXT hasn't delivered anyone near them...Finn had a moment, Joe?

Right or wrong, I don't think Vince is interested in competing with AEW, which NXT is basically there for.

NXT is my favorite PPV to watch, and if they let Adam Cole, etc. head to AEW, Vince may not have a choice about competing with AEW.

Punk and Bryan will pop a crowd but they are not long term plays for AEW, Cole is someone I'd build a promotion around.

Elias has always given me a Macho Man/Bruiser Brody vibe, he did great with the gimmick, but it's run it's course, hope they bring him back as a bad-ass.

Love or hate Jim Cornette, look up his tribute to Beautiful Bobby on The Jim Cornette Experience podcast - if you are a fan of Eaton and his work, well worth the listen and the first time I heard Corney show emotion/vulnerability/a kind word for Tony Kahn...he confirmed that Bobby Eaton was a guy you would want to travel, work and have in your family.

Sorry for all the posts in this thread, been on vacation/work and catching up.

NXT is dead.

Vince can't handle losing to a bunch of mid-carders and indy guys so he's killing any hope of NXT moving beyond a training ground...nothing that happens there matters anymore...

This is one of the many things I love about AEW...they would allow something like this to happen...WWE is isolated off in its own world, the rest of the wrestling universe is more connected than ever...

Well Vince isn't wrong. They are too big to fail. At least while he is alive. 10 years from now who knows.

Kind of like watching a walk on get a full ride scholarship...and a stark contrast to the WWE announcing releases last Friday night...

Tanahashi beat Archer for the NJPW US Title last night...sets up a possible rematch on AEW TV vs. Archer or Moxley or both...
