Xavier Foster

I don’t think this has anything to do with personalities. More to do with a misevaluation by the staff.

Every season? You live on JUCOs and transfers. The program is built on marginal personalities but good basketball players. The ISU Admin obviously approves of that format. It works.

Eh it happenes. Guy don't end up being as good as once thought after they get to campus, get home sick, or have poor attitudes. Not many people know what happened but it is for the better one way or another. Still think Anderson will be a stud wherever he goes. Leech is likely a Juco guy.

LOL!! They were there for a few months!!!

You wouldnt know a f-ing thing about any of their personalties.
The Ames PD does though. I’m told they are given a detailed description of every clone player before the season, and how to approach each player if they are caught doing something they are not supposed to OR as they call it affectionately in Ames - ‘being in wrong place at wrong time.’ For instance, an Ames police officer shared with me that Talen Horton Tucker has a habit of sleep walking in Walmarts and he was advised to just let Talen go until he wakes up on his own....even if it means he gets away with merchandise and/or threatens harm on others. The health and welfare of the clone player understandably always comes first in Ames.

One does not need to know a person personally when they were run off from other programs due to being known problem children. Pretty basic really, but we don't expect mentally challenged folks to understand.

Prohm literally whiffed on 1/2 of the class that is only weeks into their freshman year on campus.

CF is spinning this as a positive, naturally.
People know how much I thought of both players when they signed and still think they are going to be good wherever they end up but ISU was already out of rides now they have 2 for sure and maybe 1 more later. That leaves enough room for Foster and Dubar or a Mid Year Transfer or all 3 if Haliburton leaves for the NBA. It sucks but it does help open spots for recruiting better talent to Ames.

ISU hasn't successfully recruited a kid from a junior college since 2016.

What is a marginal personality? Who have they recruited the fit that description at ISU? I think they've recruited honestly a lot of good kids, but not everything always works out. I have been extremely critical of this recruiting class and the only thing that surprises me is that they are leaving this quickly.

And yes, I expect every staff at ISU to have at least 1 or 2 missed players in each recruiting class, because ISU doesn't get top shelf prospects every time.

Who fits this description on the ISU basketball team? Who was the last person in the ISU basketball program to fit this description?

Lol. I think that might be a little extremist thinking there. It didnt help Lard last year at all.

Isn't Dubar rated below both guys that just left on 247? Weird positive take.

I think the extreme part is trying to understand how he stayed academically eligible for two years at ISU. He must have had some really good tutors......

Bet he's impressed with the crowd.

Unfortunately, that might be the deciding factor. He will go to the Clone exhibition tonight and they will have a good crowd. The students will probably chant his name and encourage him to join their ranks. Might be pretty heady stuff for a HS kid.

He's been to plenty of regular season games at both schools before. I don't think the atmosphere will sway him either way.

Oh, the guy who has a masters degree from Iowa State. Worked out for him I guess, great job by him.

I'll be 100% honest I kind of forgot about him.

Now you are moving the goalposts. You asked who was the last ISU player that fit the description of "run off from other programs".

You had to look at last season for that guy who was dismissed from Old Dominion after being suspended multiple times.

Yeah, I thought I made it clear I was wrong. In the end it all worked out for him though and I'm really happy for him.

CHA is a poor atmosphere. The crowds are dead-average age is around social security eligibility. You'd think the moron AD would have had cards with X's name printed up just so the crowd could call his name.

First, that's like three years ago, not exactly ancient history.

Second, look at your line ups in the last ten to fifteen years. Out of each season's top 7 players how many were transfers in? How many never completed college eligibility at ISU or elsewhere? Of the "homesick" variety, how many transfers were Iowa kids coming home from some distant environment? How many were kids that had disciplinary, citizenship or academic issues elsewhere or subsequently at Iowa State. How many even stay eligible for two seasons in Ames?

Its a pirate ship but it works for you guys. The players don't have to make you proud of developing young men into scholar athletes, or even respectable citizens. They just have to win now and next season you'll have some new pirates.

Iowa State has pretty low expectations this year and they are playing, literally, the worst division one team in the country. I would be surprised if their actual attendance was that great.

Will they cover -34 1/2? I feel dirty for this, but I hope so.

Yup, can't hear most of the fans cheering. And the they sit on their butts at home makes it worse...

I'll admit that I took a peak at Cyclone Fanatic today because I wanted to see if they had a scoop on Foster. Many of the posters were ripping on the Iowa crowd. I don't think they realized it was an exhibition game, a game that literally means nothing.

Iowa is consistently in the top 25 for attendance and Foster has been to rocking, sellout crowds at Carver like the Michigan game last year. Unlike the cyclown fans, I think Foster is smart enough to view last night with some context.

Is iowa state seriously not on the ESPN app tonight? Doesn’t espn manage the big 12 tv deals?

I was actually going to watch them.

I was surprised. Attendance was pretty decent tonight. Student section was sparse, but the rest of the arena was fairly decent.
