You're thinking of a "military coup." But there are many other types of coups. All that is required is one group illegally seizes power from another group. This is what was planned as outlined above.

Pence called several people and asked if he could do what was being asked of him and everyone told him "hell no", even Dan freakin' Quale. Then Trump riled up a mob to go storm the Capitol to put pressure on congress to "do the right thing."
