For those wanting Kirk Ferentz gone

I’m a person that can look at a schedule and see that we can’t compete against Penn State, Indiana, and Oregon. We can’t win games @USC either. That’s four losses already. Not to mention traveling to Iowa State, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Rutgers, all toss up games. Let’s say they win two out of four. That’s six losses already. 🤷‍♂️
Lets say we lose two of those games. 10-2. Pretty easy to pull predictions out my butt. You do know that we have had one losing season in the last 23 or so? Only missed one bowl game in that timeframe. Your pessimism isn't well based.

Ryan Day

A certain segment of the fan base really wants Vrabel.
Vrabel's name has been popping up a lot lately.

And he's a native Ohioan. Why does this matter to them? Because all of their really successful coaches - especially against Michigan and winning NCs - have been Ohioans. It goes back to Woody Hayes in the early 1950s. The only 2 that have a losing record against Michigan are John Cooper (I believe from Tennessee) and Ryan Day (New England).

We should continue to rub Nebraska’s faces in it

Oh, and yes, I am vocal about having Ferentz fatigue and being tired of ultra conservative play. I am a bad fan. I admit it. And yet I would still rather watch Brian Ferentz offensive football every year than have a classless son of a bitch like Scott Frost or Matt Rhule on the Iowa sideline.
Shut your whore mouth!!

Rutgers "Insider" Claims Elite Guys Leaving Both PSU and Iowa

You guys are arguing just to argue.

Glazier came into the season last year as a fifth-year non-starter with a 9-7 career record.

I call that a room guy.

He surprised everyone by going into Big Tens with a 21-1 record, and into NCAAs as a #7 seed with a 24-2 record.

I call that a potential AA.

He lost in the first round to the #26 seed, then beat #23 and lost to #9 in the wrestle backs. In other words, he wrestled below his seed.

Flo has him at #11 now.

So he was a room guy for four years who had a good season as a starter heading into NCAAs but didn't perform well.

And in his sixth year he's again a fringe AA, at least according to Flo.

I don't think there's anything controversial about the above. Why are we arguing again?
Because they like our guys.

Does Hannah have a shot at the W?

Naz Hillmon (Michigan alum, now a role player the Atlanta Dream) is a decent player comp in my opinion.
Naz is still playing post, I think Meg is a better comp. She was a post player that transitioned to be a 3/4. Hannah has a year and a half to develop her 3/4 game before she gets there. I think she can get there. She has been working on the 3 for a while now, she needs better handles and a mid range as well. I think the BYU game showed glimses of what shes working on, but its still early days.

Anyone have experience with buying an unlocked cell phone?

My last few phones have been unlocked, Just get SIM card from carrier you choose, Insert and turn on phone. Advantage not tied to specific carrier, Less bloated software. I have the flip 5, Use Cricket which uses ATT towers, Have had no issues, That said I don’t use Network for much more than calls, texting and watching a few videos, Most of my internet activity I use my tablet at home.

Would you rather…

This is a really tough hypothetical.

Big 10 - way more prestigious and brings a lot of money. Good natural rivals with 4 border schools. Never going to win the regular season, and a real long shot to even make CCG - not to mention win it. Outside chance to make playoffs once a decade or so if the stars align as the 3rd or 4th team in. Let’s be honest…do any of us really expect Iowa to win a national title? I know I’ll never see it.

Big 12 - less money and relevance, but much better competitive balance. Real chance to win conference titles…is this Iowa’s ceiling? Games would have real value if you’re chasing a title, even though it’s ONLY a conference title. Is a conference title from BIG12 less impressive than 4th place in BIG 10?

Let's look at this years outcomes. An 8-4 overall record, 6-3 in the Big 10, which is just 1 game behind OSU in the loss column. I am not sure if Van Ness would have still been here but DeJean could have.

If Iowa has its normal really good developmental team on the field and has a few all american type talents then lets see what happens. If we had DeJean to lock down one corner, and a Van Ness still here this defense is top 10.

If we have a really good running game and can get a better passing game with a better QB and a couple of receivers, then this offense would be more balanced and scoring 35 pts a game on avg. Throw in a top Lbkr Jack Campbell type and the usual top 10 Tight End.

With that type of situation I think Iowa can be a 10 win team and in the running for the Big Champ Game and then on to the CFP playoffs more often than you think.

For those wanting Kirk Ferentz gone

Sorry what???? The last couple of seasons of offensive struggles has nothing to do with Brian???

He was in charge of the offense during the worst stretch in program history and possibly college football history haha

He leaves and the offense immediately improves.

So yeah, he was pretty responsible and it’ll take another year or two to purge out the remaining issues….tho Kirk is still the root cause

When did you realize your kid was/wasn't game for extra competitive sports?

Both of my boys played competitive league soccer for a short time, couple of seasons apiece, and one season apiece of travel baseball. Both decided that they did not want to continue with them, for similar reasons. They enjoyed playing several different sports - Both were good all-around athletes. They didn't want to devote year-round to playing only one thing, so they moved back to rec leagues and just had fun. Both were probably good enough to play small college ball in one or the other, especially if they'd devoted themselves to it - but they had a lot more fun changing from one sport to the next...just like I did as a kid.

We should continue to rub Nebraska’s faces in it

What these dumb sons of b******s in Lincoln still can’t figure out is that character goes a long way in winning football games. Regardless of the coach, regardless of the recruiting rankings, regardless of the stats, Nebraska continues to lose to Iowa and post one garbage/mediocre season after the next, and it’s all because of character—specifically the lack thereof.

Iowa played their 4th string quarterback. A walk on. And still beat Nebraska. Let that marinate for a long time Debbie fans.

Oh, and yes, I am vocal about having Ferentz fatigue and being tired of ultra conservative play. I am a bad fan. I admit it. And yet I would still rather watch Brian Ferentz offensive football every year than have a classless son of a b*tch like Scott Frost or Matt Rhule on the Iowa sideline.

So, that’s my eating crow post. F**k Nebraska! Cheers.

When did you realize your kid was/wasn't game for extra competitive sports?

It’s funny. Both of kids were in competitive cheer and then my son played rugby and football. Before they were in high school, I was constantly on them to be doing the extra work, hitting the gym, etc. I harped on them about being in the biggest class in Iowa, you were really going to have to bust your ass to see the field. So when did it resonate with them? As soon as I stopped ragging on them about it.

QB for Bowl Game?

QB depth would be a nice thing to keep around. His scramble ability is pretty solid. Watching spring practice he looks like he's developing, with the major concern being arm strength.
Hasn't played a live snap. I'm not losing any sleep over losing any QB's from the Brian Ferentz era. None of them have panned out. All have transferred or busted. With just the bowl remaining having the only 2 QB's with a chance of playing healthy is all the depth they need. Based on what they see over the next few weeks will probably dictate how many QB 's will be retained for next year. I think they might be thinking that they already know who their backups will be.

JonBenet Ramsey

Killer came in from basement widow while Ramsays were out for dinner at friend’s house. Tased Jon Benet, police tried to ignore the taser marks. No expert was able to confirm ransom note was written by Patsy, in fact several said it definitely was not. House was somewhat of a maze and even the cops didn’t discover the body during their search. Dad and friend found her hours later after police suggested a second search. The rope used to kill her used a fairly complex knot which means the nine year old brother couldn’t have done it. A suitcase was placed by the basement window to climb out. Police said there was was no footprints in the snow but as pictures showed, there was no snow near the house. The oddity of the 118k ransom note which was about the same as his bonus was not that odd since the amount was in the financial documents that were on his desk. And no match from any of the Ramsay family of the DNA that was found in her panties. Incompetent cops led by a narcotic detective who looked silly in his deposition given years later. Cops leaked false information to reporters throughout the investigation.
Assuming this is all accurate and not the family/documentary slant it sure paints a different picture. But if it was all that obvious why would the police ignore it all?
Why would a killer make a ransom note for someone they've already raped and killed?
Someone in the family could have easily put a suitcase by the window, which the family knew was broken bc John supposedly did it quite a while before.

Next Year's Team

Well, considering how very few of the underclassmen were good enough to play on defense this year and how many they graduate from the defense....it could be a really long season next year. I'm not sure much NIL money will be spent on the defense either considering how much they need to do on offense.
Okay that one I don't understand. So we have 6 starters decide to return on one of our best defenses EVER and your take is the young guys weren't "good enough". How do we make that assumption? I could see that maybe with Schulte, but no body else. I think we have some guys at safety who will be good, they just need to play more. Heck it's possible we see Harrell and Sharer be just like Jay Higgens after being three year understudies. I'm not writing off the defense at this point......
