Next Year's Team

Well, considering how very few of the underclassmen were good enough to play on defense this year and how many they graduate from the defense....it could be a really long season next year. I'm not sure much NIL money will be spent on the defense either considering how much they need to do on offense.
Okay that one I don't understand. So we have 6 starters decide to return on one of our best defenses EVER and your take is the young guys weren't "good enough". How do we make that assumption? I could see that maybe with Schulte, but no body else. I think we have some guys at safety who will be good, they just need to play more. Heck it's possible we see Harrell and Sharer be just like Jay Higgens after being three year understudies. I'm not writing off the defense at this point......

Rutgers "Insider" Claims Elite Guys Leaving Both PSU and Iowa

You guys are arguing just to argue.

Glazier came into the season last year as a fifth-year non-starter with a 9-7 career record.

I call that a room guy.

He surprised everyone by going into Big Tens with a 21-1 record, and into NCAAs as a #7 seed with a 24-2 record.

I call that a potential AA.

He lost in the first round to the #26 seed, then beat #23 and lost to #9 in the wrestle backs. In other words, he wrestled below his seed.

Flo has him at #11 now.

So he was a room guy for four years who had a good season as a starter heading into NCAAs but didn't perform well.

And in his sixth year he's again a fringe AA, at least according to Flo.

I don't think there's anything controversial about the above. Why are we arguing again?

Next Year's Team

That's what this is about? You're triggered over my username? LOL. What a whiny little bitch.

All I did was give my opinion about next season's record, and actually said I'd give props to KF for scratching out a .500 record in what will be a difficult season. What's wrong with that? Why do you hate KF?

Being told by you that I'm not taken seriously on this board is the funniest thing I've read in a while, coming from the board's sanctimonious homer.
You might update your little avatar. You do know that Brian was fired and no longer works for Iowa?

Congrats to Iowa State

There is a reason why you never have QB's and ISU has them.

Lol Iowa’s bad run of QBs is ridiculous and I’ve been a massive Ferentz critic because of it, but you act like the game of college football has been played for only 6-7 years. A betting scandal lead to your current QB starting and you’ve had a whopping two good QBs in a row. Do we really want to go through the list of Iowa State QBs compared to Iowa QBs?

You guys can barely beat Iowa even when we have shit QB play. 2 wins in 10 years? Both of those wins being massive choke jobs and the win this year came off an (awful) rule change to save them from yet another loss.

Enjoy it while it lasts. It’s only a matter of time before this returns under NIL

Buchanan is nowhere near AJ’s ability. For a guy who was all over AJ last year, that’s a really weird comparison to make.

Buchanan got absolutely smashed by Brooks last year. As much as I find AJ a terrible human being, he’d never get demolished like that. 197 was pretty weak outside of Hidlay and Brooks last year. No one else was even close to their level. Buchanan took 3rd, sure, but this happened along the way:

Brooks is probably a top 5 wrestler of all time. If not for an awful brain fart in the semis he quite likely wins a gold medal this year. A lot of great guys have been wrecked by him over the years.
If and when they meet Buchanan is going to give AJ all he can handle.

When did you realize your kid was/wasn't game for extra competitive sports?

Lots of excellent perspectives so far.

As a grandparent of six grandkids who have all participated from any early age, all have different levels of motivation.
My recommendation would be to not push, but always encourage.

The two oldest both played juco, were good, not great.
They all figure out a path at some point.

Good luck. They need to enjoy it, most importantly.

QB for Bowl Game?

I hope a few of these post game analyses are wrong, but most are projecting Marco to hit the portal.
I've been assuming that Marco would hit the portal for quite a while now, even before the emergence of Stratton. Do you really think he has a role on this team moving forward? I'm disappointed he never really got a chance but I think it's time for both parties to move on.
