The most important thing to me is finding the combination that works most effectively on both offense and defense. It’s actually pretty nice to have a group of about nine guys who can play effectively together (solid minutes) and someone always ready to step up if there’s an injury, illness, or an off night. Something we’ve already seen a few times early this season.

Both you & Mohawkeye make good points, but the reason for going to the portal in the first place is to improve the team. That inherently takes recruiting over your incumbents. If the HS recruits are not as good & want to hit the portal sobeit. That's the name of the game today. I know the other side of the argument is "how will we be able to get good HS recruits"? The answer is, who cares if we can get a group of studs through the portal?

That's how Fred & current ISU coach have succeeded. And hasn't many on here complained "If ISU can be successful with transfers, why can't Fran"? I know, it's a conundrum, isn't it?

Ford brought them back from the brink - dismal quality in the 70s-80s until Ford bought them and ditched some of those stupid suppliers, namely Lucas electrics.

2003-2009 Jags are actually the best of the breed and hold up well. Ford did that.
