Nukes to Ukraine!?!

Ukraine joining NATO was never more than a discussion point, and was nowhere near becoming a reality prior to Putin invading.
They made it part of their constitution. Talks working out the details and timeline with us, the EU and NATO were already proceeding.

Much more than a discussion point.

Does Ukraine's stated intent to join NATO justify Putin's invasion? We certainly don't think so. But Putin just as clearly does.

Holy $hit, Ole Miss after game presser

KF certainly had "better" opportunities from the sounds of it in the mid- and late-2000s. Matt Campbell has had better opportunities. Dabo Swinney turned down NFL and other colleges (including Bama according to rumors). Greg Schiano turned down the Michigan job to stay at Rutgers. I'm sure there are plenty others.

There's nothing wrong with a young coach trying to grow his career by climbing the ranks of better jobs. The difference is that Kiffin seems to jump immediately at the brightest shiniest name that comes along every time. He coached Tennessee ONE year before jumping ship for USC. He coached three seasons at FAU before jumping at the Ole Miss gig.

You like him, good for you. I don't, partly because of the little regard he seems to have for the players and schools that entrust their program to him, by splitting so soon after being hired. He also just seems like a doosh to me.
I understand what you are saying, although, I don't think anyone was under the guise that he was going to stay at FAU for the remainder of his career and that the Ole Miss job was a good jump.

The TN-USC thing is certainly up for debate. I just put myself in his shoes in that if I was a football coach, and I got hired by a really good program like NC State or Pitt or something but then there was a change at Iowa and they called me and I felt like this was my one chance to go and coach at the school that I love, I would have done it too.

I think for the jobs that he didn't get fired from, he left the programs and/or departments in better shape than when he got there.

AJ, while having a sharp tongue in his comedy, does seem to be pretty laid back. He jokes about how many times he has killed off his parents and how family members want to be included until they are, and then have buyers remorse when it happens. e.g. his uncle becoming a molester, but I can't find that interview.

I enjoyed his tv show as well. But I think he does well enough that he has eff you money. So kill the podcast when it isn't fun anymore. We should all be that lucky.
Grinding for 20 years. 8 of the first by eating mostly instant noodles. It’s probably why he has difficulty maintaining weight. His body built up a decade of tolerance of essentially not eating. It’s cumulative similar to a person who has spent their entire life overeating.

Anyone speak more than one language?

Way back in the ‘80’s, an old bf went with me for drinks with my colleagues. We were speaking English but mixing with Spanish Portuguese and French. We didn’t even realize it the bf asked if we always talked like that.

But we spoke that way all day long at work. Everyone was at least bi-lingual.

When the word is better in another language we always just use it without thinking.

There are drawbacks though. Like the nights you dream in different languages. It’s weird.

I had a good friend (she passed away a few years ago) who made her living as a translator. I don't remember exactly what all she spoke, but she indicated that with the combination she could communicate with virtually anyone, anywhere. She worked at times with the government (had pictures with several PotUS, VP, heads of other countries, and other high-ranking officials), but also did contract work with tv networks and various large events. She went to a number of the Olympic Games, World Cups, funerals of heads of state & celebrities, and a bunch of incredibly cool things like that.

Listening to Jeselnick on Dan Le Batard pod currently. He calls Chapelle out by name for his stupid "trans bits"
I stand corrected. I’ll need to listen to it. I’m curious to hear how Jeselnik views it.

Dave certainly isn’t your average knuckle-dragging Rogan comedian. His commentary on the societal pretending involved with Trans stuff feels pretty culturally relevant.

Trump planning to take power away from Congress...

Trump and his advisers are asserting that a president can unilaterally ignore Congress’ spending decisions and “impound” funds if he opposes them or deems them wasteful."
Didn't he do something similar in his first term? IIRC, he diverted funds allocated to the military and redirected them to build some of his wall.

This sounds like more of the same, probably on a much bigger scale.

What's less clear is how he plans to redirect the impounded funds to his donors this time around. I assume that's the aim.

I had the Chargers at +3 last night.

Still can't believe the Ravens went for it on 4th and 1 on their own 16. NOBODY does that. They don't get that they probably lose.

To me that was the difference in the game.

Damn it.
4th down decision making is absolutely bonkers. I’m sticking with my theory:

Analytics was introduced into football by Vegas as a way to increase variance.
