Iowa WBB lost today.
Hostile environment on the road.
Had a lead in the 4th quarter.
Looking ahead, tOSU and Indiana only play each other once while Iowa plays both teams again.
And you come to this board and it would seem that the season is over.

But then you realize that they sell out everywhere they play.
They're a ton of fun to watch.
A generation of young people (both girls and boys) in Iowa are growing up watching this magic.
A bunch of people have signed up for Peacock. Including your parents and they don't know how anything on their smart TV works.
Iowa WBB played on Saturday Night in Prime Time and while people should not have been out in that weather CHA was packed.
Caitlin Clark has her own cereal.

But, yeah, the other stuff.
Oh and I did I mention, that somehow, Iowa is in first place in the B1G?

House GOP targets federal workers who walk out over Gaza

Top House Republicans plan to press federal agencies to punish workers who participate in a planned walk out next week in protest of the Biden administration's support for Israel.

Why it matters: It's the first time Congress has gotten involved in the widespread staff-level dissent taking place within the federal government over the Israel-Hamas war.

Driving the news: Federal workers across nearly two dozen agencies including the White House, the Pentagon and the State Department plan to walk off the job on Tuesday, according to the Middle East-focused news site Al-Monitor.

  • The protest, led by a group of dozens of federal employees calling itself Feds United For Peace, is reportedly to observe a "Day of Mourning" on the 100th day since Israel began military operations in Gaza last October.
  • Hundreds of Biden administration employees are expected to participate in the demonstration, the outlet reported.
What they're saying: "Any government worker who walks off the job to protest U.S. support for our ally Israel is ignoring their responsibility and abusing the trust of taxpayers," House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said in a statement.

  • Johnson said he and House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) will "be working together to ensure that each federal agency initiates appropriate disciplinary proceedings" against anyone who participates in Tuesday's demonstration.
  • "They deserve to be fired," Johnson said.
  • Between the lines: The conservative magazine National Review made the case that the protest violates federal law, pointing to a statute punishing any federal employee who "participates in a strike ... against the Government of the United States" with a fine or up to a year in prison.

Fran at 272 Wins is Winningest Coach in Iowa Basketball History. Patrick: “I didn’t want to leave (Siena), absolutely not. I was so mad at him.”

When the McCaffery family got to the airport to fly to Iowa City, Connor locked the doors of the car and laid on the floor; he didn't want to go.

Jack McCaffery was 3 years old when the family moved to Iowa. In July, 2022, Jack was talking to Melsahn Basabe, who was in town visiting. Basabe was Fran's first recruit at Iowa. Jack is now nearly 6'9" and is taller than Basabe.

Nice story from Rick Brown, former Register beat writer & now writing for SI.

Do you still shake hands?

COVID put a real damper on this practice but notice many people reverting back over the past year or so.

Personally, I got used to not shaking hands and appreciate that I’m not constantly sharing germs. Still, sometimes I’ll extend my hand out of habit and people will look like, “Yeah, uh, do we have to shake?”

Anyone else notice an awkwardness about the practice these days?

NH Residents Get Fake Biden Robocall: “Don’t Vote”

NBC News reports:

A prominent New Hampshire Democrat plans to file a complaint with the state attorney general over an apparent robocall that appears to encourage supporters of President Joe Biden not to vote in Tuesday’s presidential primary.
The voice in the message is familiar — even presidential — as it’s an apparent imitation or digital manipulation of Biden’s voice. “What a bunch of malarkey,” the voice message begins, echoing a favorite term Biden has uttered before. The message says that “it’s important that you save your vote for the November election.”
“Voting this Tuesday only enables the Republicans in their quest to elect Donald Trump again. Your vote makes a difference in November, not this Tuesday,” it says.

Iowa Wrestling update

It is great to be an Iowa Wrestling fan.

Go Hawks!

OT- we spent $125k on something we knew would happen?

Who is in charge of this stuff and why do we have to go through the process if we already knew we wanted Goetz? What a waste of money.
