Mother arrested for abandoning kids in home for over 4 years, sheriff says

I'm going to guess that the mother was living with her new man/family, and he didn't want to deal with her old kids, or she just wanted a new life. Either way, those kids are going to have some adjustments to make and hopefully they can find a good home somewhere.

PONTIAC, Mich. (WXYZ) - Three Michigan kids were found in deplorable living conditions after police say their mother abandoned them years ago.

The woman, who was not publicly identified by the sheriff’s office because she shares the same name as one of her children, was arrested last Friday.

“Everybody is upset about it,” Emma Gross, a resident of Pontiac, said. “Like, oh my God. This is right in our neighborhood. How could something like this happen?”

Gross lives several streets over from the home where the kids were found.

Deputies with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office say the house was covered in piles of trash as high as 4 feet in some rooms. There was even mold and human feces throughout the house.

“That’s pretty heartbreaking that the kids would have to live under those conditions,” Gross added.

Sheriff Michael Bouchard said a 15-year-old boy and his two sisters, ages 12 and 13, had not been outside of the home in years. They were surviving on weekly drop-offs of prepared food.

“It reminds me of the commercials you see where animals are living in very deplorable conditions,” Bouchard said. “Well, kind of take that times 10 and that’s what the kids were living in.”

The boy told deputies that his mother abandoned them back in either 2020 or 2021.

Deputies were recently called to the home because the landlord asked for them to do a welfare check.

“The landlord said he hadn’t seen her for some time, and as our detectives mentioned, haven’t paid her rent going back to October,” Bouchard described.

The woman was arrested on Friday and Bouchard says she had been living somewhere else in Pontiac.

The kids had not been in school since they were abandoned.

“That’s going to be a very long process to figure this all out, not just how they are both mentally and physically, but how did this ever happen to have these kids fall through the cracks on so many levels with relatives, the community and the schools,” Bouchard said.

The sheriff said he has never seen anything like this.

“I’ve seen child neglect and other situations where they’re living in a bad place, but not to this level and not for this extended, extended duration,” Bouchard added.

The children’s mother will face criminal charges.

Conservative commentators (social media lunatics) seen with ‘Epstein Files’ binders after AG Bondi promises docs release

90
Conservative political commentators were spotted at the White House Thursday holding binders that read "The Epstein Files" hours after Attorney General Pam Bondi promised the release of documents about wealthy financier Jeffrey Epstein, who sexually abused underage girls.

It was not immediately clear what was in the binders, which have not been released publicly by the Justice Department.

The binders read "declassified," but it was not immediately clear whether the information contained in the binders ever had been classified. Among those holding the binders was political commentator Rogan O'Handley, also known as DC Draino.

It's So Confusing: Is Trump Hitler or is He Stalin?

Observers note that during his first term, Trump said he wanted “the kind of generals that Hitler had,” apparently unaware that Hitler’s generals tried to kill him and instead imagining they were all fiercely loyal. They also note that authoritarian leader Joseph Stalin of the Soviet Union purged his officer corps to make sure it was commanded by those loyal to him.

***Official 2025 MLS and North American Club Tournaments Thread***

Week 1 in the books.

My Sounders start off with putting the ball into our own net to draw 2-2 on the last play of the game (93rd min) vs Charlotte.

Chicago is doing what Chicago does (sorry @Menace Sockeyes ) granted it was to the Crew. 4-2 Columbus.

Vancouver put a beat down on Portland 4-1 as did San Jose over Real Salt Lake, 4-0.

Messi got a last second assist to draw NYCFC 2-2 after getting a goal in the snow at SKC in the CCL to win 1-0.

San Diego takes down the champs, LA Galaxy 2-0 in their first game in history.

MLS being up to 30 teams is crazy to me...

Random question. For the CCL, why do MLS teams have to play each other in round 1? Mexican league teams didn't have to. It's not a US vs Canada thing either. I haven't really read up on the new format.

Lauren Boebert and Nancy Mace are stalking a co-worker

Mace and Boebert created some drama by demanding a man be removed from a bathroom in the Capitol. They were attempting to continue their grift off of trans bigotry by targeting their co-worker Sarah McBride.
It was not McBride in the bathroom. Will Speaker Johnson allow such harassment in the workplace?

OT: Any Creighton Blue Jay men’s fans in here…

I don’t post on the men’s board at all, in fact, I don’t read it at all, but I know there are a lot of smart knowledgeable basketball fans in here and I was just curious what their thoughts were.

I’ve been a closet fan for years, but in particular the last 10. What an oddity they are. I swear to God every year they start out ranked, at least since McDermott has been there, go through a stretch where they lose 4, 5, 6 games in a stretch of nine or 10 and then turn it back on at the end of the season.?!

I mean every single year. Now I know they had a player hurt early in the year, but what a strange team.
