Parent charged with assault on referee at Burlington Middle School game

disgusting!

BURLINGTON, Iowa (KWQC) -A parent is charged after police say he assaulted a middle school referee.
According to a Facebook post, Burlington police said officers responded to a report of a parent assaulting a referee after a basketball game at 6:25 p.m. Friday at Edward Stone Middle School.

Urban Morris, 42, is charged with assault, a serious misdemeanor; assault, a simple misdemeanor; disorderly conduct, a simple misdemeanor; two counts of first-degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor.
According to arrest affidavits, police learned on the way to the school the parent had left the school. When they arrived a witness identified Morris.

A referee from the game told police, at the end of the game a call was made that Morris disagreed with. Morris approached the referee and a second referee upset about the call. The referee said Morris threatened them both.

A second referee told police, that he had his phone on him and was threatened to not call the police.
When the first referee went into the locker room to get his phone, he turned and was punched by Morris multiple times, according to the affidavit. Parents are not allowed in the locker room. Police say a witness followed Morris into the locker room and saw him hit the referee.
Morris is being held on a $17,000 bond, court records show. A preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 27 at the Des Moines County Courthouse.

CY-HAWK GRADES

Few notes to start- I did not have the riding time on screen. Also some of the rankings could be off/wrong?

125 PETERSEN 27 vs UR Was not able to finish shots, had trouble getting out from bottom. Other kid was a pretty good scrambler. Unless the knee injury is holding him back? We are going to need to improve here and Deluca may have to go right outa gate! 65

133 DRAKE 9 vs 5 Slick 1st TD, great work on 2nd, and added a 3rd to extend lead. Like to see something more from top but overall I think the best he has looked so far this year. 98

141 BLOCK 31 vs UR BLAST was real nice, need to get ride out. Looked like he was fading some when he gave up TD then got rode out. MISTAKE taking bottom!!! It has been talked about, and I get the IOWA TUFFNESS stuff etc.... but in match coaching sometimes needs to be adjusted. I think had he gone on feet in 3rd, he had a better shot to pull match out 65

149 PARCO 4 vs 7 no score in 1st did not have me thrilled. Thought Parco was doing most of the work and creating the action. Gave up a tough TD and then there was some confusion on what was taking place? Lock hands called, gets escape, bricks thrown?!!?!? At first I was concerned why IOWA threw brick, did not see Iowa st. also threw brick. Turned out well for the GOOD GUYS as we got what I believe was an illegal cut back call and point, give him the 83

157 TEEMER 1 vs 10 all I got is a HUGE F#@K!!! Moving right along

165 Caliando 2 vs 9? Just enjoy watching him WORK!!! He was aggressive but not finishing. Was not sure about that 1st TD he gave up? they were saying he gave up Neutral danger points, but replay maybe it was correct TD call? GREAT mat work getting reverses both times when he was down. Still feel they have to change a reverse from TWOOO to THREEEE!!!! A lot more shots in 2nd, still no TD but got stall warning and just kept wrestling IOWA STYLE!!! 95

174 KENNEDY UR? vs UR very much liking quick shot and TD!!!PLUS constant work thru 1st building lead. there was a really nice reshot for a TD in 2nd with a TUFF ride out. would like to see more improvement on top game, break down to pinning combo! Added a TD at very end to get TECH!!! again IOWA STYLE! 90

184 FERRARI UR vs 15 showed great POWER finish first shot or TD!!!A nice Low Single but a good counter(comes in to play later in match) took a little time and work to escape but was never in danger. His 2nd TD he wound up in a similar situation as the Low single and made the adjustments to finish!!! Worked hard for bonus, would have loved to see him get it!
99-100 how do you grade this?

197
BUCHANAN 2 vs 20, Iowa st kid was THICK!!! IOWA Was aggressor and then with short SHORT time, shot and finish end 1 NICE!! Rode him like a 25 cent pony in front of the local food store! Wish he would have tightened some of the bars up when he had them! Kid had unusually flexibility for his size!!! Anyway I would have taken TOP in third and stalled him outa the match, great work getting major to seal the deal. 95

Heavy Kueter 13 vs 4 Hate beating a dead horse but with more muscle he wins that match pretty easy. Was getting horsed in some positions including 1st TD situation. Good work on bottom to escape. Had Cradle locked up I thought he had him!!! He will be in the battle to AA for sure 80

Do not like the during match interviews, LOVE the new mat!!!

Trump threatens to sue Iowa pollster, newspaper

President-elect Donald Trump threatened Monday to file a lawsuit against The Des Moines Register and famed Iowa pollster Ann Selzer, whose final survey before the Nov. 5 election badly underestimated Trump's support in the state, which he won.

“In my opinion it was fraud and election interference," Trump claimed of the survey, according to the Associated Press.

The incoming president took questions from reporters Monday at Mar-a-Lago in Florida during his first news conference since winning election.

ABC News last week agreed to pay $15 million toward Trump’s presidential library to settle a lawsuit over anchor George Stephanopoulos’ inaccurate assertion on the air that the Trump had been found civilly liable for raping writer E. Jean Carroll. Instead, Trump had been found liable for sexual assaulting and defaming her.

Trump on Monday previewed future legal action he planned to take against the news media. “I'm not doing this because I want to, I'm doing this because I feel l have an obligation to,” he told reporters.

“I'm going to be bringing one against the people in Iowa, their newspaper, which had a very, very good pollster, who got it right all the time and then just before the election, she said I was going to lose by three of four points,” Trump continued. “And it became the biggest story of all time, all over the world.”

Selzer announced last month that she would retire her polling operation, a decision she said she had made well before the election.

The pollster, whose sterling reputation took a hit when it missed the Trump-Harris result in Iowa by 17 points, said she has seen nothing in the polling data that should have signaled the results were off.

“If you’re hoping that I had landed on exactly why things went wrong, I have not,” Selzer said Friday during recording of “Iowa Press” at Iowa PBS Studios in Johnston. “It does sort of awaken me in the middle of the night, and I think, ‘Well, maybe I should check this. This is something that would be very odd if it were to happen.’ But we’ve explored everything.”

Ya’ll getting some time off this holiday season?

I’m a couple hours away from being on vacation for rest of the year. Might check in a little Monday, but nothing big. Much needed break. It’s probably my favorite time of year for a staycation as they call it. It seems more acceptable to just stay in your pajamas and sleep in during the holidays than it does any other time of year. I’ve tried it. On a Tuesday in July, it just feels wrong and I feel guilty. Not this time of year so that is what I’m going to do.

How about you? You getting some time off? What are your plans?

Gov. Kim Reynolds: Iowa ready to use National Guard, law enforcement for mass deportations

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds says she is ready to use "every tool at our disposal," including deploying the state's National Guard and law enforcement, to carry out President-elect Donald Trump's plans for "mass deportations" of illegal immigrants, according to a joint statement by Republican governors.

Trump has signaled he wants to see an overhaul of the country's immigration system, starting with deporting immigrants living in the country illegally who have violated the law.

"On Day 1, I will launch the largest deportation program in American history to get the criminals out," Trump said during his campaign's closing speech at Madison Square Garden.

Reynolds and 25 other Republican governors vowed in the statement to stand behind Trump's plans to seal the border to illegal immigrants, which they said President Joe Biden's administration failed to accomplish.

“Republican governors remain fully committed to supporting the Trump Administration’s efforts to deport dangerous criminals, gang members, and terrorists who are in this country illegally," the governors said in their statement. "We understand the direct threat these criminal illegal immigrants pose to public safety and our national security, and we will do everything in our power to assist in removing them from our communities."

Reynolds' office did not immediately respond to a request for additional information on how the National Guard and law enforcement might be deployed in the deportation effort.
