11/30 Update - Cybertruck Delivery Event (Link)

Woopty fvcking doo. Elon is a piece of shit
Why do people say this? Innovator with F*ck you money who isn't afraid to expose dishonest. Makes Internet available in places who otherwise wouldn't have it.

What makes him such a POS? Anything other than he tends to be moderate politically now since the left went too far left for him? To me it seemed nobody hates him until he vowed to make Twitter transparent and not censor people based onto their politics.

Considering it was an “unveiling,” and not remotely production ready back in 2019, it only makes sense most details weren’t designed or ironed out. What, the bespoke rubber chem of the tires didn’t make the list? Pfft.

“katana wiper”… 😂

So the estimates that didn’t turn out, Tesla deserves scorn.

The ones that were improved, well it wasn’t finished.

Nice little game we play. 😂

I’m not playing any game. I haven’t “scorned” Tesla for charging more, or delivering the product years after they claimed. I have laughed at posters that believed 2021 and 2022 delivery dates in the past. It’s called a development cycle. Overrunning budget and and being late to market isn’t anything new, and was an expectation of mine. The cybertruck coming to market with features not previously announced was also a known.

Hell of a truck. Clark Griswold would be embarrassed by the size of the tree the truck can handle.

Will they sue that guy as well? Much like an “autopilot” feature that requires the driver’s full and complete attention, I wonder if there’s something in the fine print of the CyberTruck manual about agreeing to not take it off-road.

TBF, that's more of a "tires" issue, than just the truck.

People who have road performance tires and think they can take them off-road, anywhere.

Oh…I’m ready for the justifications. Tires, a locked/unlocked differential, the truck being a pre-production model, the high slip viscosity of the ice, the steep grade of the terrain, the current X stock price, and what Alex Jones’ various theories are.

what is there to sue over? Summer tires on ice like surface will do that to any truck. Nothingburger.

My non-car friends are doing what they always do:

Hitting me up for car buying advice.

But lately there’s been a recurring theme among the questions…

Cybertruck.

One friend who drives a Ram is considering buying a cybertruck.

He asked me for my opinion…

(I told him check my @X feed instead 😉)

I then asked him if he’s dead set on the Cybertruck — he said “only 50%”.

Naturally, I asked him “why not 100%?”

His response?

Nothing to do range anxiety…
Nothing to do fù*k El0n Mu$K!…

Rather: “I don’t know if I want to be an early adopter of a new, untested type of vehicle”

This was eye-opening, but also not shocking.

And I suspect 1,000,000s of people are thinking the same thing.

My takeaway from the conversation was that Marketing is more important to Tesla than it’s ever been, and that if the company wants to tap into the next wave of EV adopters (specifically, through sales of Cybertruck), it’ll have to solve this dilemma for consumers.

Am I wrong?”

EVs don't have differentials, I don't believe.

Those are independent motors on each wheel, aren't they?
Production model should have electro-mechanical locking diff up front - with the single 300hp motor driving both front wheels. No need for a diff. in the back as there is a separate motor driving each wheel independently in the rear.

I’m just here to bust balls and lure the usual suspect out of hiding, tbh.

Well yeah. Anyone living in Iowa knows certain conditions your truck or SUV is just plain stuck. Happens all the time.

I hope he’s at least getting some $$ (or a hand job) from Elmo for being his mobile PR firm.
Haha

I think it’s more that he’s neck deep in some Tesla/Musk message boards and feels a personal responsibility to defend anything to do with the guy (except for ignoring/downplaying the ugly stuff). I’ve never seen anything like it before.

I don’t think so. The Michelins the Tundra used to come with were essentially an SUV tire, but those things were great in the snow.

This is a combination of the tires Tesla chose for a truck, the truck’s traction control system, and this dude not knowing how to drive off road.

The diff shouldn’t matter. You can control torque and spin with the brakes. The new Land Rover Defender only has a center locking diff, but it outperforms everything in the snow. Their traction control software is that good.

Unfortunately the rest of the vehicle is as bad as their traction control is good.

[Ford] signaled in October during its Q3 earnings call plans to “adjust” production of its all-electric vehicles and delay about $12 billion in investments due to softening demand for higher-priced premium electric vehicles; a memo to suppliers - which was viewed and reported first tonight by Automotive News - indicated plans beginning in January to produce an average of about 1,600 Lightning trucks a week at its Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, Michigan.
Ford had planned for an annual production capacity of 150,000 Lightnings a year, or about 3,200 a week.
That means its production target for 2024 has been halved.
“We’ll continue to match production with customer demand,” a Ford spokeswoman said Monday

This is why Teslas are the safest cars on the road. Model Y & Cybertruck were designed by SpaceX rocket engineer material specialists.

Watch @lars video on the Model Y safety and the interview with Sandy Munro. In the simplest terms what kills people is the suddenness of the stop, bot necessarily the stop itself. There the goal is to spread the distance of the stop out or dissipate the energy is if the stop was less abrupt. And keep the full force of the stop from impacting the people in the car. People in the car could be killed by their heart hitting their rib cage or by their brain hitting their skull—but not if the energy is dissipated away from the occupants.

Tesla designed a crumple zone. And protections for the passenger compartment.

Beyond standard airbags that also improve safety and protect occupants, Tesla has active safety systems—like pedestrian or object detection and emergency stop. Active safety can be increased by steer by wire and redundant fail safe systems that are less likely to stop you suddenly on the road in case of failure.”

What do you mean? I follow a boatload of Tesla accounts and fan accounts on X. When I see something interesting I share it. I think Teslas are the safest cars on the road and will save a lot of lives in the future. I have almost been killed 2 times when other people were driving and I was in the car. Other loved ones in my family have been killed in senseless auto accidents. Safety is super important to me. Is it common knowledge Teslas are the safest cars on the road? Maybe it is now but not everyone knows that.

Why do you care what I post anyways? Ignore me I don’t care.

You are obsessed.

Obsessed.
