2014-2015 Banquet

The Hawkeye banquet is tonight. Is anyone going?

I have never been and never thought about it.
Could some of you that have been share what it is like? What goes on and why it is a great evening?
No sarcasm here. Really would like to hear about it.

I have been there the past three years. There is a nice buffet style dinner, followed by Tom talking about the events of the evening. He introduces each wrestler, and they all line up across the front. The seniors are introduced and they have the opportunity to talk if they wish. There are awards given by the coaches. This years award winners were: most dedicated- Sorenson and Meyer. Most valuable-Clark. Most improved- Burak. Most Courageous-Grothus. Highest Senior gradepoint- Dwieza. The show a great highlight video of the season to close out the night. That's the most of it. Telford gave a funny talk about his years at Iowa, and Evans had an interesting talk about when they were freshman. Ironside and Grace were there. Metcalf talked about the AGON meet coming up. McDonough, Keddy, were also there.

does anybody that went to the banquet last night know if the three wrestlers that got suspended was there at the banquet.

Over the years I have been to the banquets till I moved out of state. I highly recommend if you are a HAWK fan you try to make one. You will see the dedication and commitment these young men and Coaches have to the Hawk program.
