2019 Recruiting Strategy and HawkeyeReport Insight Suggest Hockenson Leaving.

5 NFL teams with big needs at TE are (experts say) : New England, Green Bay, Arizona, Dallas and Jacksonville. The TEs will be taken late in the first round to about midway in second round. Arizona needs OL and offensive threats for their franchise QB (Josh Rosen). Arizona may trade picks to expand offerings as their are likely to take a DL with the number 2 2019 draft pick at present.

I noticed McShay has Fant going to the Raidas at #26 in his first Mock Draft. I'd love to see Hockenson go to the Pack if he leaves this year. Green Bay has 2 first round picks. The way things are going we are going to have tight ends leaving early for the draft on a regular basis.

I have absolutely zero inside info, but IIRC Logan Lee had a hell of a year at DE, playing both ways. By adding a 3rd TE, maybe they are considering a move to DE for him?

Seems like he could be an elite TE to me, though.

Pittsburgh will not take a TE in the first round. Tomlin/Gilbert will take a 2nd or 3rd round LB or DB that only they thought had first-round value. They have one dependable TE in James and a flashy but inconsistent one in McDonald. TE is the LAST position they need to address. So yes, maybe Fant will go there. Sigh
Another Steelers fan here... As much as I would love to see a Hawkeye on the team, if they don't draft the best defensive players, especially DB, available in the first three rounds, I'll lose my mind. James and McDonald are more than adequate at TE. I just hope Fant and Hock don't go to Dallas, NE, or another AFC Central team. That would be hard to watch.

Hockenson says "when I come back another year...or if I come back another year... I've got alot to work on." I wonder if its a sign that he might return. A Freudian slip of sorts?

I am still sick over the Bell saga. They absolutely pissed away a golden opportunity to shore up the defense by trying to hang on to that pothead jackoff.

Lions have nobody at TE. They should be well ahead of NE

Denver too...TE has been an issue for the Broncos for several years, the thing is unless you have a strong roster, its awfully difficult I would imagine to pull the trigger on a TE when there are so many other needs on a roster. When the Colts had Manning, Harrison and Wayne, it was a nice luxury to have when they selected Dallas Clark in the first round. Then you have the Ebron types that are drafted early on freakish athleticism and they aren't well rounded/every down players, so tough to justify such a high pick for a specialist.

I wish Fant and Hockenson the best, would be pretty cool to have two TE's in the first round, doubt that has ever happened for a school. Wouldn't be surprised to see TJ drafted first, he is the better all around TE and while Fant will surely dazzle at the combine I bet TJ will test pretty damn well too.

Looked at a recent video interview with Hock on HN and at first he sort of sounds like hes leaning toward the NFL then at the end talks about loving the University and having no issue using up his eligibility here. I can't imagine him playing his senior year if he stayed next year. He has really come into his own this season and his career trajectory has spiked. At first I thought he wouldn't and probably should not leave, but now I think he might and should head for The League.
I was solidly in the "He's Gone" camp; however, 5 tight ends going in the first 3 rounds seems like a high number. From all indications, Fant is the #1 tight end in the draft.

I was convinced he was gone. But he gave an interview in Tampa and said when I come back next year I have a lot to work on...then corrected himself and said if I come back next year.

Your Chargers are looking good but what is their obsession with Gates. He was a great player in his time but he looks and moves like an OL now.
Henry got hurt and they re-signed Gates. Henry was supposed to take over this year.
