Son of a........knew it was a long shot but Fran established a great relationship and was in on the kid before he really blew up.

Iowa had a legit shot if Duke didn’t come calling. Frustrating, but if you want the best you gotta beat the best.

Yep. Iowa offered Kyle on June 18, 2020.

Duke offered over a YEAR LATER, on June 28, 2021.

Kentucky finally got with the program and offered just 10 days ago (July 19).

The joys of recruiting.

Huff plays along with Schutt on aau team and Iowa spent a lot of time 👀 them this past month. Huff played well

but Rivals has Huff as a 0 star!!!

@perryhawk , does this make Fran an even worse recruiter if he can't even land a 0 star? ;)

Ironically, Iowa might have offered too late. His offer list is pretty impressive:

Illinois
Michigan State
Wisconsin
Northwestern
Minnesota
Virginia Tech
Creighton
Vanderbilt
DePaul
Penn

Ok well no Kyle but any combination of Jaden Schutt, Josh Dix, Aiden Shaw, and Patrick Wessler would suit me just fine
I still think we have a good shot with Tyler Nickel. Josh Dix & Nickel along with Bowen would be a nice class. If another one opens up then add Wessler. If Shaw wants to come you find room somehow.

"The Brotherhood." Gag me with a spoon! If anything, Iowa is a brotherhood. The players tend to stay four years and become a family. At places like Duke and Kentucky, it's just a revolving door.

Recruiting is such a losing proposition for fans. We start hearing names and stars and get our hopes up when we get an official visit and a week later they sign on with one of the big boys who jumped in late or, worse yet, a school that doesn't seem to have any advantage over Iowa. Must be even more frustrating for the staff to devote so much time and travel to follow these kids only to be rejected. As others have said before, we need a young charismatic coach that can land these kids or continue getting used to the idea of being the constant bridesmaid.

Iowa offered Alex Karaban on May 4, 2021. He committed to UConn today.

Alex plays
on the Expressions Elite AAU team with Dasonte Bowen (2022 PG Commit), Reed Bailey (2022 PF, who Iowa offered) and Taylor Bowen (2023 prospect Iowa has offered).
